The Artist Dog, Uggie, Wore a 18-Karat Gold Chopard Collar

Feb 27, 2012 @ 1:06 pm

And the winner of the night’s best bow tie goes to… Uggie! The adorable star of The Artist stole the spotlight during the movie’s Best Picture win at the 2012 Academy Awards with his custom 18-karat gold and silk bow tie by Chopard. The pup-size accessory featured an engraving of his name and will be auctioned off to benefit The Amanda Foundation, a non-profit organization for rescue dogs and cats. “I was completely charmed by Uggie’s role in The Artist,” said Caroline Scheufele, artistic director of Chopard. “Knowing that Uggie is a rescue dog, it inspired me to create a unique piece to benefit an important cause.” Too cute!

Kate Middleton’s Tiara: Jewelry Designers Sketch Dream Tiaras

Apr 4, 2011 @ 9:45 am

According to tradition, a royal bride wears a tiara on her wedding day. Queen Elizabeth II wore a tiara for her wedding to the Duke of Edinburgh, as did Princess Diana, who wore the famous diamond Spencer tiara, a family heirloom piece. What tiara will princess-to-be Kate Middleton wear if she so chooses to for her April 29th nuptials to Prince William? A likely conclusion would be that the Queen will lend her a tiara from the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom collection. However, in anticipation of this momentous royal accessory, InStyle tapped the creative minds of some of our favorite jewelry designers to see what they would design for Middleton’s special day. See tiara sketches for Middleton from Chopard, Van Cleef & Arpels, Swarovski, Royal Asscher, and more in the gallery.

The 124-carat diamond bracelet (bottom bracelet shown inset), estimated at $850,000, was found by an event worker and is now safely back in the hands of Chopard.
