Julianne Hough, we love your dress! Our InStyle Makeover cover girl wore Carolina Herrera‘s bold bow-in-the-back red cocktail dress to honor the designer at EIF Women’s Cancer Fund 16th annual Unforgettable Evening event in Los Angeles, the same dress Zooey Deschanel modeled on our April 2013 cover. Lisa Kudrow and Rita Wilson helped honor Carolina Herrera at the EIF Women’s Cancer Fund 16th annual Unforgettable Evening event at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in California last night. Herrera received the Nat King Cole Award for her work with Saks Fifth Avenue on the retailer’s Key to the Cure campaign, for which she designed a limited-edition T-shirt and proceeds benefited the EIF’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund, an organization created by Wilson, husband Tom Hanks, Kate Capshaw, and Steven Spielberg to raise funds to help early diagnosis of women’s cancers. Breast cancer survivor Kylie Minogue also received the courage award, while Chelsea Handler provided laughs as the emcee and Bruno Mars serenaded the crowd with his hits. Carolina Herrera told editors at her spring 2014 bridal fashion show that this season’s collection would be ”whimsical play on lace,” and she delivered in a big way. The romantic fabric was everywhere, from peeking out from under draped backs to creating princess-worthy sleeves. The feminine designs fit every wedding style, whether you’re saying your “I Dos” as an airy beach bride or a metropolitan-focused city girl. And that’s just what the legendary designer intended: “As the ultimate expression of a bride’s personality, the Carolina Herrera wedding gown is a reflection of her most beautiful self,” the designer said. Click to see the full collection.

Now This Is Designer Lipstick! Bobbi Brown Re-Releases Carolina Herrera’s Favorite Discontinued Lip Color Today

Apr 10, 2013 @ 11:45 am

When Bobbi Brown discontinues lip colors, they’re usually gone for good. But not when it’s Carolina Herrera’s favorite hue! After the designer found out her favorite Plum Stain—her go-to for over 20 years—was being taken out of production, she drained the stock at every store and enlisted everyone she knew to help her find more. “I searched many years for a color that I could wear for all occasions, and when I found this one, my search was over,” Herrera told InStyle.com. “I loved it so much.” When her stockpile eventually ran out, Brown sent Herrera custom versions of her favorite color… until now. Today, the makeup maven releases the Carolina Sheer Lip color, the same deep rosy plum Herrera loved, re-issued and named in the designer’s honor. “Bobbi and I are both in the beauty industry—we make women look and feel more beautiful,” said a thrilled Herrera of the re-release. “I hope [women] will love that it makes a subtle statement. The lipstick is like a white shirt—it can transition for any occasion.” Shop the color, available starting today, for $25 at bobbibrowncosmetics.com.

Runway Looks We Love: Carolina Herrera

Feb 11, 2013 @ 6:20 pm

From the first pluck of the violin, it was clear that Carolina Herrera was putting on an opulent show for fall. The symphony of rich fabrics like fur, silk, sequins, and velvet—both accenting the designs and worn head-to-toe—was made all the more lavish with bold jewel tones, including sapphire, plum, and (of course!) Pantone’s Color of the Year, emerald. The womanly designer wrapped up the collection with waist-cinching belts and what else: bows!  Click through to see our favorite looks.
