Carolina Herrera is on the rise! With the modern-day bride in mind, the designer changed things up a bit and lifted hemlines, making this her first-ever bridal collection to eschew floor-sweeping gowns. “I wanted to design unique options for every event surrounding a bride’s wedding from the rehearsal dinner to the reception,” Herrera said of her collection. “A bride’s wedding style should be a reflection of her personality…it’s the moment where she can feel her most beautiful.” From cocktail-like frocks to tea-length dresses, her creations didn’t stop short of spectacular with hints of whimsy and fantasy. Romantic detailing was the unifying thread, which included intricate beadwork, Chantilly lace appliques and on one occasion, baby blue ribbon bows—for your something blue! If there was one thing Sarah Hyland did during the 2013 Emmy Awards last night that made us adore her even more, it was her gown to dress transition! From the red carpet and awards ceremony to the post-Emmys Fox and FX after party, Hyland switched up her awards look with two different designer frocks, but stayed true to her jewel tone color palette. The Modern Family actress first wore a plunging deep green CH Carolina Herrera silk-gown with a black Chantilly lace overlay, and accessorized with matching emerald Lorraine Schwartz statement jewels starting with her earrings right down to her cuff bracelet and ring. After the awards ended, Hyland kicked off celebrating Modern Family’s fourth consecutive Emmy win by slipping into a teal Talbot Runhof embellished cocktail dress. How cute! So tell us in the comments below, which look did you love the most?

Designer: Carolina Herrera
Location: Theatre, Lincoln Center
What It Was Like: A packed house with air-kissing socialites, top editors and top models on the runway.
Why we love this collection: It was a Carolina Herrera show, which of course, means the usual parade of evening gowns and flowy dresses. But this time around, the romanticism was offset by graphic geo-print lines, concentric circles and angular shapes. Boxier day dresses were crisp and modern, while layers upon layers of printed chiffon created entrancing optical illusions, giving the dresses an edge that set them apart from all others. The finishing touch? A gorgeous shirtdress gown to round out the collection.
Halle Berry is set to walk down the aisle with fiance Olivier Martinez this weekend after a 14-month engagement. And with the nuptials pending and a baby boy on the way (due this fall), there’s much to celebrate. Given Berry’s impeccable maternity style and her love of both flowy fabrics that drape and body-hugging silhouettes, we know her wedding dress will be one to watch. That’s why we scouted the runways, including Monique Lhuillier, Carolina Herrera and Reem Acra, and rounded up our top seven bridal gowns fit for the fashionable star and her baby bump. Click to take a look at our Berry-inspired picks that had us saying, “I do.”
Julianne Hough, we love your dress! Our InStyle Makeover cover girl wore Carolina Herrera‘s bold bow-in-the-back red cocktail dress to honor the designer at EIF Women’s Cancer Fund 16th annual Unforgettable Evening event in Los Angeles, the same dress Zooey Deschanel modeled on our April 2013 cover. Obviously, we LOVE the cover girl connection!

Lisa Kudrow and Rita Wilson helped honor Carolina Herrera at the EIF Women’s Cancer Fund 16th annual Unforgettable Evening event at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in California last night. Herrera received the Nat King Cole Award for her work with Saks Fifth Avenue on the retailer’s Key to the Cure campaign, for which she designed a limited-edition T-shirt and proceeds benefited the EIF’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund, an organization created by Wilson, husband Tom Hanks, Kate Capshaw, and Steven Spielberg to raise funds to help early diagnosis of women’s cancers. Breast cancer survivor Kylie Minogue also received the courage award, while Chelsea Handler provided laughs as the emcee and Bruno Mars serenaded the crowd with his hits. Carolina Herrera told editors at her spring 2014 bridal fashion show that this season’s collection would be ”whimsical play on lace,” and she delivered in a big way. The romantic fabric was everywhere, from peeking out from under draped backs to creating princess-worthy sleeves. The feminine designs fit every wedding style, whether you’re saying your “I Dos” as an airy beach bride or a metropolitan-focused city girl. And that’s just what the legendary designer intended: “As the ultimate expression of a bride’s personality, the Carolina Herrera wedding gown is a reflection of her most beautiful self,” the designer said. It’s Spring 2014 Bridal Market week in New York, and there are more than just beautiful new dresses making their debuts—bridal designers Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera launched new additions to the wedding party. Oscar de la Renta’s new bridal fragrance, appropriately named Something Blue, is now available on bloomingdales.com. The perfume includes notes of mandarin orange, linden blossom, and bourbon vanilla, and it’s so lovely you don’t need to be a bride to wear it. Carolina Herrera also just launched The Carolina Herrera Bride, a weddings-only blog designed to provide inspiration for the newly engaged, doling out advice about everything from veils to bouquets from Herrera herself.
