Exclusive: What Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) Wore on The Good Wife Season Finale

Apr 29, 2013 @ 11:20 am

The Good Wife season four is over—and what a season finale it was! With a season leaving on a cliffhanger—between Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) resisting temptation by moving to a new firm and becoming the First Lady of Illinois, plus all of the storylines associated with these discoveries—the wardrobe was as dramatic as the plot, and for good reason. “Alicia can be pretty unpredictable, and the looks she wore this episode embodied a new jumping off point with her—it was the springboard to dive into next season,” explained costume designer Daniel Lawson, who dressed the character in a fitted Karen Millen suit and sexy black Antonio Berardi dress for the finale. “This year, the wardrobe has been a feast for the eyes for Alicia. She started out strong in a Proenza Schouler jade jacket, and we’ve built on that strength and sexiness throughout the season.” And that can only mean one thing—more amazing fashion coming to The Good Wife season five. Get more details from last night’s finale looks straight from costume designer Daniel Lawson (follow him on Twitter @GoodWifeFashion) and find out what Alicia wore all season in the gallery.

Watch Gwyneth Paltrow Hilariously Explain Her Scandalous Wardrobe Malfunction

Apr 26, 2013 @ 10:20 am

Gwyneth Paltrow, officially the world’s most beautiful woman, turned heads when she stepped onto the red carpet at the Iron Man 3 premiere this week in an Antonio Berardi dress with sheer vertical paneling along the sides exposing all her bits and pieces. Yesterday, she explained her controversial style choice on Ellen, where both she (in Proenza Schouler) and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres had giggle fits over Gwyneth’s admission that, because of the placement of the sheer fabric, she “kind of had a disaster.” No spoilers here—you’ll have to watch the clip above to find out just what nearly went wrong with Paltrow’s dress—but Gwyneth finishes the story by admitting, “I went from the most beautiful to the most humiliated in one day.” And this kind of look isn’t just for big movie stars anymore: Both Berardi’s original runway design (which is two-piece) and Paltrow’s full-length version will hit modaoperandi.com today at noon; the gown for $4,660 and the shorter skirt-top combo for $1,480 (skirt) and $1,580 (top). Watch the clip above and decide if Gwyneth’s risky style move is one you’d want to take.

Ashley Greene’s New Favorite Label: Antonio Berardi

Oct 9, 2012 @ 12:38 pm

Twilight star Ashley Greene made designer Antonio Berardi a happy man when she wore his white sheath to the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Los Angeles this weekend. “[As a designer], I try to enhance the female body but it’s really about the woman,” the London designer had told InStyle.com recently. “Clothes are just clothes. They’re pieces of cloth that need to be brought to life.” That’s exactly what Greene did. “I love that Antonio Berardi’s designs are so feminine, and I feel like his style celebrates women,” Greene told InStyle.com at the event. “Anytime I wear Berardi, I just feel very good. The cuts are extremely flattering.” So flattering, in fact, that she only considered Berardi for the event. “Literally, it was between this dress and another Berardi dress. That never happens when I’m looking at dresses. Ever!” See more stars who love Berardi in the gallery.

Who says summer’s over? Not these ladies. Rebecca Romijn (in Dilek Hanif), Ali Larter (in Temperley),  Selma Blair (in Skaist Taylor), Garcelle Beauvais (in BCBG), Ashley Greene (in Antonio Berardi), and Rachel Zoe (in Rachel Zoe collection) stepped out at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Palisades, California this weekend in light, sun-loving looks. And they came prepared, as well: “I was like, no pointy heels! I don’t want to be sinking into the lawn out there,” Romijn told us, when asked about the possibility of divot treading during the event. Designer Antonio Berardi Is Having a Red Carpet Moment

In the last two weeks alone, Jessica Stam, Gemma Arterton, Elizabeth Olsen, and Jennifer Lawrence have all worn dresses by London-based Antonio Berardi—much to his delight. “[As a designer], I try to enhance the female body but it’s really about the woman,” he told us following the MADE for Peroni Young Designer Awards in New York City, just days before his fashion show during London Fashion Week. “Clothes are just clothes. They’re pieces of cloth that need to be brought to life.” And ever since he started designing his own line after graduating from Central St. Martins in 1994, stars have gravitated to his looks that are as intricate with tailoring as they are sensual with their body-contouring shapes. And it’s a bonus: Having a celebrity model can mean big business. “Seeing these women in these clothes makes people want them,” he said. “Erin Wasson wore a dress to Cannes. That dress was incredibly expensive, but after Erin wore it, it sold out worldwide,” he said.”Sometimes the clothes can be the most amazing clothes in the world, but unless people see them on an amazing woman they’re not always interested.” See more stars in his beautiful designs by clicking through the gallery, and visit saksfifthavenue.com and net-a-porter.com to shop his collections.
