The New Redheads of Hollywood: Rachel McAdams, Dianna Agron, Elizabeth Olsen, and Coco Rocha

Hollywood is seeing red! Last week, Dianna Agron and Rachel McAdams both surprised all of us by taking their blonde strands to a bold crimson, and now, Elizabeth Olsen, and Coco Rocha are the latest celebrities to give their hair an auburn tint. While Rocha went the fire-engine route, Olsen’s change was much more subtle, adding a hint of red to her brunette shade. Considering the red route? Joel Warren of Warren-Tricomi Salons notes that the color is more high-maintenance, but the bold statement it makes is worth it. “Red hair has the largest molecule and is difficult to enter into the shaft of your hair,” Warren told us. “To make it last, you need products that help close the cuticle. Try L’Oreal Professionel’s INOA salon service, which doesn’t have ammonia and won’t open the hair cuticle.” Additionally, add more color-preserving products into your hair routine, and steer clear of shampoos that contain sulfates, which can strip hair color. “A strawberry blonde on a blonde base will last much longer than a rich auburn on that same base color,” he added.

Bergdorf Goodman’s 111th Anniversary Party Brings Designers and Their Muses

What’s better than turning 100? Turning 111! Bergdorf Goodman celebrated its birthday last night with a mega-bash at The Plaza, located across from its famous Fifth Avenue and 58th Street flagship. The New York design world came out for the retailer’s “111 Years of Extraordinary”-themed party, with designers and their muses covering every inch of the ballroom in the most extraordinary garb. The standouts included Coco Rocha in a Zac Posen bordeaux satin gown, rising style star Rita Ora in an old Hollywood-inspired white look by Emilio Pucci’s Peter Dundas, and Karolina Kurkova, who wore a Roberto Cavalli suit done in one of the label’s signature exotic prints. Other designer attendees included Thakoon Panichgul, Carolina Herrera, and Michael Kors. And, as if there weren’t enough showstoppers with the fashion alone, classical singer Sasha Lazard stopped by the party to perform “Happy Birthday” while a giant three-tiered cake—flaming with fireworks—was rolled on to the dance floor. Way to throw one “extraordinary” celebration, Berdgorf! Click through the gallery below for more photos from this week’s hottest parties.

Zac Posen Got Social for His Spring 2013 Collection

Sep 10, 2012 @ 12:12 pm

It’s no mistake that model Coco Rocha looked ready for a society ball at Zac Posen. “I was interested in Truman Capote’s American Swans,” Posen told InStyle.com of the inspiration for his collection, referring to the author’s legendary group of socialite friends including Babe Paley (pictured), C.Z. Guest and Lee Radziwill, “In women who, through dress, created themselves.” Citing collaborations with modern-day beauties like Anjelica Huston, Glenn Close and Jessica Chastain, he said: “I’m seeing this new generation of women dressing [up] again and it’s so inspiring for me and the kind of craft I make.”

Nail Polish Named by Fashion Models: See the Colors!

Aug 24, 2012 @ 1:13 pm

While celebrity manicurist Jin Soon Choi can often be spotted painting the nails of Halle Berry and Scarlett Johansson, she looked to the pretty faces of the runways for her first-ever line of nail polishes. “Women are very connected to fashion and aspire to the trends they see on runways and in magazines,” Choi said of the 12-shade lineup, six of which were named by models. “The colors will enable them to be a part of this world, making them feel confident, glamorous, and sexy.” The line hits Space NK stores and spacenk.com for $18 each next week, then rolls out to select Sephora stores in October. See the couture colors and the models who named them in the gallery.
