Herve Leger’s Lubov Azria Hearts Michelle Obama

Sep 8, 2012 @ 7:00 pm

When asked whether she’d rather see Michelle Obama or Ann Romney in her Herve Leger designs, Lubov Azria did not hesitate with her reply: “Michelle Obama.” Although she understands that the First Lady has a few wardrobe restrictions (“obviously she is in public”), Azria vouches for the functionality of the label’s classic bandage dress. “When she wears those shift dresses, I’m like, try Herve Leger on,” she told InStyle.com. “It never wrinkles and you’ll never look bad!”

Runway Looks We Love: Donna Karan

Feb 14, 2012 @ 4:00 pm

Donna Karan emphasized one of her favorite themes for fall 2012—strong women! The collection, which the designer described as a mix of masculine and feminine, featured tuxedos and pinstripe suits with a decidedly sexy spin. Mini Stephen Jones fedoras topped off the looks, which came in a color palette of charcoal, scarlet, navy, and black. Ashley Greene, Emmy Rossum, Rose McGowan, and Adriana Lima watched from the front row as Karan sent out sequin-covered gowns and long jersey dresses to the tune of “I’m Every Woman” for the show’s finale. Powerful! See our favorite looks in the gallery now.

Alexander McQueen’s Latest Collection: See the Photos!

Oct 6, 2011 @ 3:35 pm

Sarah Burton produced another fantasy collection for Alexander McQueen’s spring 2012 runway show. The creative director and McQueen protégé released pieces covered in voluminous ruffles of cascading chiffon and lace, some cinched with corset belts to create an ultra-slim waistline. Cream, gold, lavender, silvery gray, and coral made up the palette, and lace, sheer panels, and underwire details added a lingerie touch. Towering curved wedges with straps snaking up the leg glided down the runway in gold and white. And that’s not all—see our favorite looks from the collection in the gallery.

Runway Looks We Love: Valentino

Oct 6, 2011 @ 10:25 am

Valentino offered an unabashedly romantic collection for spring 2012. A slew of gorgeous dresses filed down the runway one after the other, from simple lace frocks to head-turning red gowns that felt simultaneously feminine, frilly, and cool-girl. The label’s designers Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri used soft neutral colors, and added pops of hot pink, blue, and classic Valentino red. In the accessories department, flat sandals looked chic for day and night, long shoulder-sweeping earrings finished each look, and nude, red, and white bags got the studded treatment.
