Runway Looks We Love: Stella McCartney

Mar 4, 2013 @ 4:51 pm

After today’s Stella McCartney show during Paris Fashion Week, it’s clear that nobody borrows from the boys quite like Stella. (Further proof could be found in the front row, where Jessica Alba worked the label’s crystal-embroidered slim suit.) Menswear fabrics like plaid and pinstripes covered chic sweater dresses, adorable minis, and hooded parkas. Though black, white, and gray covered much of the relaxed designs, bright purple and blue spots punctuated the show. Twisted-strap stilettos and ultra-wearable chunky platforms finished off the boy-meets-girl aesthetic. See our favorite looks in the gallery.

Runway Looks We Love: Givenchy

Mar 4, 2013 @ 3:30 pm

Anyone who considers florals too feminine, think again! For fall, Givenchy‘s Riccardo Tisci presented a bouquet of anything-but-precious designs that blended nature prints with tough leather and plaid. And there were more surprising pairings, like flowing maxiskirts layered with chunky knits. Though, nothing encapsulated the collection’s playful vibe quite like the quirky toppers, some of which featured Bambi cartoons. See our favorite looks in the gallery!

Runway Looks We Love: Celine

Mar 4, 2013 @ 10:00 am

Season after season, Céline designer Phoebe Philo delivers head-to-toe looks that women truly want to wear. Her beautiful fall collection was no exception. The clothes, a bit more feminine than in prior years, offered styling options for every aspect of a woman’s life—from office to date night. The lineup felt entirely cozy, though it also delivered a super sexy silhouette (case in point: those curve-hugging skirts). The soft color palette and tactile fabrics added to the overall feeling of femininity and wearability. The accessories included a covetable mix of chunky-heel boots, modern chokers, and oversize clutches. See our favorite looks in the gallery.

Runway Looks We Love: Christian Dior

Mar 1, 2013 @ 3:00 pm

Ladylike, sophisticated, and chic are three adjectives that can always be counted on to describe a Christian Dior collection, and the lineup that showed at Paris Fashion Week today did not disappoint. Less than a year after first debuting as the house’s designer, creative director Raf Simons continued the house’s legacy of ultra-feminine fashion for his fifth runway show. He debuted a series of black and white knits, intricate silhouettes, and evening-ready dresses adorned with sketches of birds, shoes, and faces to add extra appeal to flowing designs and ruffled waistlines. Runway Looks We Love: Lanvin

Mar 1, 2013 @ 12:10 pm

At Paris Fashion Week, Lanvin creative director Alber Elbaz set a scene for a fun and relaxed show, starting with the buckets of carnival-esque popcorn her served guests they entered Paris’s École des Beaux-Arts. He then delivered a lineup of pretty, structured dresses—as the house is most famous for—topped off with individualized makeup looks customized for each ensemble, ranging from charcoaled eyes to berry-hued lips. The accessories added extra personality, particularly script necklaces with words like “Love” and “Lanvin” spelling out exactly how this collection made us feel. Mar 1, 2013 @ 10:15 am

InStyle‘s Fashion Director Cindy Weber Cleary is in the City of Lights for Paris Fashion Week, and today she took in the new collection by Raf Simons for Christian Dior. The anticipation grew as she sent us this Instagram shot of the blue-infused set before the show, and then as the lights dimmed, she snapped this runway shot of a lust-worthy cape, calling the entire lineup a very “beautiful, very French” collection. J’adore! For more updates, straight from the runway, follow at @instylemagazine on Instagram.

Runway Looks We Love: Balenciaga

Mar 1, 2013 @ 7:00 am

For his hotly-anticipated debut at Balenciaga, Alexander Wang showed a polished fall collection that stayed true to the historic fashion house’s roots. Marble was the theme of the 35-piece lineup, and the stone inspiration worked its way into the black, white, and gray clothes and accessories, as well as the actual runway itself. True to form, Wang delivered touches of his signature cool-girl spin—the cocktail dresses were designed to look refined and covered-up in the front and revealingly sexy in the back. The designer’s knack for accessories also came through, with toe-cleavage baring heels, boxy bags with silver frames, and sleek knotted silver cuffs—all minimal with a bit of a sexy edge, a signature evident in everything Alexander Wang touches. One show she loved so far: Alexander Wang‘s collection for Balenciaga, the first lineup to come from the New York designer since his appointment to the role in late November. “The DNA of Cristóbal Balenciaga, the house’s founder, was unmistakable—but so was Mr. Wang’s. Urban, chic, sexy,” Weber Cleary says of the black and white looks that hit the runway, including these super sexy stilettos. She added: “Alexander Wang did an outstanding job.” For more updates, straight from the runway, follow at @instylemagazine on Instagram.
