Runway Looks We Love: Louis Vuitton

Mar 10, 2011 @ 11:13 am

Louis Vuitton’s fashion show offered a fetish-inspired collection. See-through and transparent clothes populated the runway, as did pieces fashioned from plastic and rubber. Rich accessories topped off the looks, with bags covered in everything from gold to plastic. Even the shoes looked subversively sexy, as super-high heels stomped across the runway. The show’s cast also featured some of the biggest supermodels, including Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Amber Valetta. At the end, Louis Vuitton’s designer Marc Jacobs rose from beneath the runway and stepped off an elevator custom built for the show. Runway Looks We Love: Chanel

Mar 9, 2011 @ 1:28 pm

Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel fall 2011 collection was smoking, in a completely literal sense. A smoke print covered invitations, and once inside the Paris venue, the runway was set against a volcano backdrop. In turn, dark lava-inspired hues transpired on the runway—blacks, grays, and whites, as well as bursts of red, representing the collection’s eruption, perhaps. “This outstanding Chanel collection had a decidedly masculine bent,” InStyle‘s fashion director Cindy Weber Cleary reported from Paris. “The red cropped jacket seems to be layered over a black blazer, but in fact it’s one piece.” Jumpsuits were also popular, some even crafted in signature Chanel quilting, and there was also a heavy focus on trousers. Slouchy boots were paired with day and evening looks, as even the cocktail offering had a tough twist. Click through to see the entire Chanel fall 2011 runway show.

Alexander McQueen Shoes: The Latest Collection

Mar 9, 2011 @ 11:18 am

Alexander McQueen‘s fashion show yesterday was full of breathtaking fashion moments, not only for the white finale gowns that fueled royal speculation, but also because of the collection’s sky-high shoes. And while McQueen’s footwear is often dangerously tall on the runway, this fall’s lineup from creative director Sarah Burton is actually dangerous, with spikes protruding from metal wedges and stiletto heights reaching seven inches or more. Click through to see some of our favorite Alexander McQueen shoe styles from the fall 2011 runway show.

Alexander McQueen’s Collection: Fit for a Royal Wedding?

Mar 9, 2011 @ 9:56 am

Reports surfaced this week that Princess-to-be Kate Middleton had chosen Sarah Burton, the head designer of Alexander McQueen, as her wedding dress designer. And the latest Alexander McQueen collection only fueled the speculation, as Burton sent out beautiful, sweeping white dresses during the finale of the house’s fall 2011 runway show yesterday. “Stunning at McQueen,” InStyle‘s Ariel Foxman Tweeted from his front row perch. “A preview of Kate’s big day dress?” While Middleton’s designer is still unconfirmed, and will not be until the royal nuptials on April 29th, McQueen’s latest collection left the fashion world convinced that this design house is the ultimate choice. Runway Looks We Love: Yves Saint Laurent

Mar 8, 2011 @ 4:19 pm

Stefano Pilati’s fall 2011 fashion show for Yves Saint Laurent featured one particular pattern: Prince of Wales checks, which appeared on everything from coats to pleated skirts. The pieces offered a lean silhouette with a mostly black, white, and gray palette. Shots of purple and blue also appeared, as well as all white options for evening that made for ’70s Bianca Jagger-inspired looks. Upon closer look, chain links adorned chokers, clutches, belts, shoes, and were printed on coats. Wedge footwear was the only heel shape in the collection, even seen on knee-high suede boots, patent loafers and gold options for evening. “This collection by Stefano Pilati was self-assured and super chic,” InStyle‘s fashion director Cindy Weber Cleary reported from Paris of the house’s designer. Runway Looks We Love: Stella McCartney

Mar 8, 2011 @ 12:24 pm

A mix of daytime and evening looks paired with the mix of both masculinity and femininity dominated Stella McCartney‘s fall 2011 runway. Daytime looks included balloon sleeve tops paired with pencil skirts or high-waist trousers and a handful of her signature suits. Sheer fabrics covered in polka dots and cocktail dresses with strategically-placed sheer panels made up McCartney’s evening-inspired looks. Accessories were simple with faux patent leather flat loafers for daytime and heels for evening, while the circle motif appeared again on hard-case clutches.
