The New Multitasker: Beauty Balm Cream

Jan 28, 2012 @ 10:00 am

Want to streamline your morning makeup routine? Pick up a Beauty Balm! Sometimes called BB Creams, the foundation-primer-moisturizer hybrids have been popular in Asia for years, and American retailers are finally catching on. Thanks to the anti-aging and anti-acne ingredients woven into the formulas, the more you wear them, the better your skin looks. We love MAC’s Prep + Prime Beauty Balm ($30; maccosmetics.com) and Garnier’s Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector ($13; garnierusa.com), both of which impart flawless finishes plus long-term skin benefits in just one swipe.

Mila Kunis’s $7,000 Golden Globes Facial

Jan 14, 2011 @ 10:39 am

With Mila Kunis up for her first Best Supporting Actress nod at the Golden Globes this Sunday, all that excitement could get to a girl’s skin! No fear—Kunis’s esthetician, Scott-Vincent Borba (inset) has it under control. One of the ways he’s preparing Kunis is by testing his new, not-yet-available $7,000 facial named the HD Diamond and Ruby Peel on the Black Swan star. “I always do [this on] her skin, neck, décolleté, arms, and the back of her hands—anything that will be possibly showing with her dress,” Borba told InStyle. Why Sandra Bullock Looked So Good

Mar 8, 2010 @ 6:45 pm

With her sleek hair, shimmery gown and (ahem!) Best Actress award, last night was all about Sandra Bullock. So how did the star prepare her skin for all that attention? A top-secret visit to celebrity facialist Tracie Martyn for a Red Carpet Facial, a non-invasive treatment that combines mild electric current and LED lights for an instantly tightening and toning effect. Martyn is based out of New York, but when she’s in Los Angeles for awards season, she sets up shop in a conveniently located hotel. “We give our clients ultimate privacy,” says Marius Morariu, Martyn’s business partner. “They enter through a locked private entrance and are escorted to a secret suite.” At $450 a session, the service isn’t cheap—but the results are, well, award-winning.
