So, how did the engagement ring—a heart-shaped diamond in channel setting featuring six smaller round diamonds—come to be? We caught up with Paul Breuninger, the show’s prop master, to find out. “When I picked the rings, I tried to be very character specific, and consider what’s proper and appropriate for Lea and Cory,” Breuninger told InStyle.com of shopping for the fictional high school students. After picking out several options, he showed them to a few staffers, including Ms. Michele. “Lea seemed fine with all of the choices, so we deferred to Cory, who made the final decision in the end.” (Like a true engagement!) The designer, however, remains unknown. “TV is too fast to bring in a lot of big-name designers, but letting Cory and Lea in on the process gave them a feeling a participation, so they could better get into their performances.” How romantic!

When Paige, Rachel McAdams‘s character in The Vow, loses her memory after a car accident, this elegant 18kt gold eternity band by Parade Design serves as a reminder of her life prior to the crash. “It seemed to really match Leo and Paige because it was an arty piece,” the actress told InStyle.com of the ring at The Vow‘s Hollywood premiere. McAdams’s costar Channing Tatum added that she helped choose the design. “She’s a sculptor in the movie, and Rachel made the cool decision that she probably wouldn’t want some big ring because she always has clay all over her hands,” the actor said. Katrina Bowden accessorized her white Amsale gown at the Screen Actors Guild Awards with a gorgeous new accessory—an engagement ring! Her rocker fiancé, Ben Jorgensen of the band Armor for Sleep, popped the question just the night before in a suite at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles. “It was a huge surprise,” the 30 Rock star told InStyle.com. “We’d talked about it, but I didn’t know when it was going to happen.” And the sparkler—a cushion-cut with two princess stones on each side—was perfect for her taste: “It’s a beautiful ring. I like antique, gorgeous rings.” Between this and the white dress—she already looks ready to walk down the aisle!

Dania Ramirez is engaged! The Dominican Republic-born actress best known for her role on Heroes has been wearing her ring few a few months now, given to her by new fiancé Bev Land, and opened up about the sparkler at the Forevermark and InStyle Golden Globe cocktail party last night. “My fiancé designed it,” she said of her custom rose gold and white diamond ring, which he purchased from August Stephenson International in Florida. “He wanted to go for a vintage, old love theme. This is probably the first time I’m even discussing it. It defines who I am. He really got something that was beautiful.” Land, an actor, director, and producer, popped the question just a few months after they met. “We were sitting in the back of La Conversation in Los Angeles, and we just decided to spend the rest of our lives together. It wasn’t anything extravagant.” As for wedding planning, that’s also low key. “I haven’t even started,” she confessed. “I’m just enjoying the moment!” Congratulations!
