The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards walked the Emmys red carpet last night in a pleated sapphire gown by Ines Di Santo, and we caught up with her personal assistant Justin Sylvester, who styled her for the event, for the inside scoop. ”When I saw the blue gown, it was just so daring, so sophisticated, so totally her,” he told InStyle.com exclusively. But apparently Richards needed a bit more convincing. “She was hesitant because it was a lot of fabric, but once she saw the way it hugged her curves, she was sold. It was the only dress that she tried on that made us both say ‘Wow.’” Accessories included her own dangling diamond earrings and vintage Judith Leiber clutch, along with a borrowed $1-million custom cuff by Forevermark. But the most meaningful element of the look was her Loree Rodkin cross ring, a gift from her late mother. “It was really important to her to have a reminder of her mom with her on the red carpet,” says Sylvester.

The Good Wife star Julianna Margulies took home the Emmy for Best Dramatic Actress, and she’s thrilled that she wore Armani Privé for her big on-stage moment. “In all honesty, I’ve never worn Armani Privé,” she told InStyle at the Governors Ball after-party. “I was in a bit of a bind, and I needed to find a dress fast.” It’s true—she found her dress less than 24 hours before the broadcast. “My stylist Christina Ehrlich helped me. I looked at it on the hanger and said, ‘I don’t think so.’ She said, ‘Trust me.’ And then she put it on me, zipped it up, and I said, ‘Oh my God. I love this dress.’” But is it comfortable? “Yes,” she explained. “It’s a little difficult to go to the loo. And to walk up stairs. But I don’t care!” Did you like her gown? Did Jane Lynch dazzle at the 2011 Emmys? Her jewelry sure did! That’s because New York jewelry shop Doyle & Doyle accessorized the actress in over $700,000 worth of antique and estate baubles. “We selected pieces that we knew would speak to Jane,” says Pamela Doyle, who co-owns the store with sister Elizabeth and flew to Los Angeles to work with Lynch for the big night. “Our inspiration was Greta Garbo, since she is Jane’s favorite actress.
