It’s been a long wait, but it’s now over! Ryan Gosling returns to the big screen today in 1950s-Los Angeles set Gangster Squad, alongside repeat co-star Emma Stone. The two originally appeared together as a couple of lovebirds in 2011′s Crazy Stupid Love, and there’s no doubt that these new roles are going to be vastly different from those. Gosling plays a cop-turned-informant who is bent on sending L.A.’s biggest mob leader to jail for life, no matter what it takes. And Stone plays the mob leader’s muse, who Gosling seduces to try to get closer to the criminal. It’s all so exciting! Click here to find out where the movie is playing near you!

Emma Stone and Lanvin artistic director Alber Elbaz have a fashion connection that we all can enjoy! The Gangster Squad actress and Look of the Day fixture is no stranger to wearing Lanvin’s designs—she just wore one of the label’s pre-fall numbers before it even debuted on the runway—and we caught up with the charismatic Israeli designer at last night’s Geoffrey Beene National Scholarship Awards Dinner in New York to find out just why he loves dressing the young star so much. “I love Emma! I think she is such a talented girl and actress,” Elbaz told InStyle.com before taking the stage to receives the night’s biggest honor—the 50th Anniversary Geoffrey Beene Fashion Impact Award. “She’s a wonderful, wonderful friend. She’s a great daughter. She’s so stylish, but also so fabulous as a person. I cannot separate her personality from the rest of it. She’s the best, just totally a good person and I love her and I wish her a wonderful 2013.” May their fashion tryst continue for a long time to come! We’re predicting lots of Lanvin for Miss Stone this award season.

Emma Stone loves Lanvin. The Gangster Squad star wears the label’s designs regularly—all of which are created by artistic director Alber Elbaz—and last night’s Los Angeles premiere for the film was no exception. The star donned a vivid red dress from the designer’s Pre-Fall 2013 collection, which just premiered in New York yesterday. “The dress hadn’t even shown on the runway—it was literally showing on the runway at the exact time of the premiere,” Stone’s makeup artist, Rachel Goodwin, told InStyle.com. “It was a specially-made piece, and Alber put so much heart into it. She has such a great relationship with him, and it was a really wonderful piece. It rides that line between sweet and super-fashionable.” She finished the look with Lanvin jewelry as well. We love the entire ensemble, too—so much that it was our top pick for today’s Look of the Day.

For last night’s Gangster Squad premiere in Los Angeles, Emma Stone’s makeup artist Rachel Goodwin looked to vintage sirens for the inspiration behind the actress’s jewel-toned smoky eye and sheer lip. “Her dress and statement necklace channeled the late ’70s and early ’80s when women were unabashedly okay with lots of jewelry and makeup,” she told InStyle.com. “We looked to Dynasty’s Crystal Carrington and Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface—two really sexy women of that era who were unapologetic with hair, makeup, and clothes.” To start, Goodwin used Revlon’s eyeliner in Sueded Brown ($10; drugstore.com) all over Stone’s lids as a base, then blended the rich emerald green from the Primer + Shadow Palette in Pop Art ($10; revlon.com) on top. Rather than a pale lip, she finished Stone’s makeup with an airy gloss. “A nude lip just didn’t seem right and felt too done,’” said Goodwin, who used Revlon’s Just Bitten Stain in Rendezvous ($9; drugstore.com). Beautiful!
