Found It! Elizabeth Banks’s Hot Pink Lipstick

May 22, 2012 @ 5:00 pm

Elizabeth Banks defied the don’t-match-your-lipstick-to-your-dress rule at the New York City premiere of What to Expect When You’re Expecting—and we loved it! “This is a case where matching a lip to a dress actually works because it ties the whole look together,” her makeup artist Gita Bass told InStyle.com exclusively. Bass used Make Up For Ever’s Rouge Artiste Natural in Soft Fuchsia, a sheer, ultra-hydrating lipstick that can be layered for maximum impact to play up the punchy pink detail of her Peter Pilotto design. “I was so inspired by the gorgeous beaded flowers on Elizabeth’s dress and wanted to transform her into a glamorous spring goddess,” Bass added. Pick up your own tube for $19 at sephora.com.

The Ladies of What to Expect When You’re Expecting and More!

May 15, 2012 @ 1:30 pm

What did we expect at the What to Expect When You’re Expecting premiere? Nothing less than pretty off-the-runway looks from the cast’s leading ladies: Brooklyn Decker (in Giambattista Valli), Elizabeth Banks (in Alexander McQueen), Cameron Diaz (in Valentino), Jennifer Lopez (in Maria Lucia Hohan), and Anna Kendrick (in Elie Saab). As for working on a film about the pleasures—and pains—of pregnancy and becoming a mom, Banks said: “It was a great, really familiar thing.” (Banks is mom to son Felix.) So what’s her one mommy must-have? “Great help,” she said. “Grandma, for instance!” See more stars at last night’s hottest parties in the gallery.

The Color Celebrities Love This Spring

While the color authorities at Pantone predicted 2012 to be a year filled with tangerine orange in the fashion world, celebrities have gone in a much sunnier direction. By the end of Q1, it seems yellow is one of the most popular red carpet choices, with stars like Ahna O’ReillyElizabeth BanksNicole Richie, and Gabrielle Union being just a few of those who chose the eye-popping hue. We love how this lemon shade works on all skin tones and can immediately brighten up your face without washing you out. Of course, this color is a head-turner, so if you want to make an impression, consider wearing it head-to-toe. Or, if you don’t want to be a walking ray of light, go for a more subtle look with a single piece, like a skirt, blouse, shoes, or bangle. Tell us: Do you like to wear yellow?

Plus, see more rainbow brights on the red carpet!

The Hunger Games: Elizabeth Banks Would Try on Lenny Kravitz’s Clothes

Mar 19, 2012 @ 12:10 pm

Elizabeth Banks revealed which cast member of The Hunger Games had the best off-screen wardrobe at the Los Angeles premiere last week, and it’s not Prabal Gurung-wearing Jennifer Lawrence or Dolce & Gabbana-clad Liam Hemsworth. It’s Lenny Kravitz, a.k.a. Cinna the Stylist! The actress, who stars as Effie Trinket in the movie, said that she’d regularly pop into his hotel room to slip into his wardrobe. “He had all his tour clothes there and we would go and try them all on,” she said. “Let’s be honest, who has better clothes than Lenny Kravitz? Nobody!” Read more Hunger Games news in the gallery!
