Dec 29, 2012 @ 10:30 am

If you haven’t already picked out your outfit for New Year’s Eve, it’s time to start the last-minute search! Sure, there are always the standbys (something sparkly, something black, and something snug), but if you want something different, consider a jumpsuit. ”For the daring, try a jumpsuit,” say styling duo (and sisters!) Wendi and Nicole, who work with Elizabeth Banks and Octavia Spencer. “Height is a must for shoes, but make sure they are comfortable so you can dance the night away.” Go for it, ladies!

Elizabeth Banks’ Faux Bob How-To

Sep 25, 2012 @ 2:55 pm

Elizabeth Banks hit a high note at the Pitch Perfect premiere in Los Angeles. We love the star’s textured faux bob (fob?) so much that we got the complete breakdown of her look from hairstylist Jenny Cho. “I wanted to create a sexy and slightly disheveled feeling for a modern and edgy vibe,” Cho told InStyle.com. To bring out the natural texture and body of the actress’ hair, Cho scrunched a dollop of Suave Professionals Captivating Curls Whipped Cream Mousse ($3.75; suave.com for stores) into Banks’s damp strands and dried with a diffuser. Then, using a one-inch barrel curling iron, Cho curled Elizabeth’s entire head of hair before she shook it out and fluffed with her fingers. In sections, Cho clipped up the top layers while she teased the bottom half. To get the full faux bob effect, she tied the ends of the teased layers and anchored them underneath the nape of her neck with bobby pins. Cho left the top layers loose, and finished with a veil of Suave Professionals Touchable Finish Lightweight Hold Hairspray ($3.75; suave.com for stores).

Beauty Trend Alert: The Mini Pompadour

Jul 9, 2012 @ 1:10 pm

This high-rise updo is gaining popularity in the hazy days of summer. Emma Stone sported the look at The Amazing Spider-Man  premiere in Rome. Her hairstylist, Mara Roszak, paired the pompadour with a classic French twist to complement the high neck line on Stone’s dress. She gave the bump a side sweep instead of the traditional straight back effect.  “I took the top section and gently teased at her roots and brushed it back,” Roszak told InStyle.com. “Then I connected the top of the twist in the back and secured it with bobby pins.” Other stars like Elizabeth Banks, Marisa Tomei and Marion Cotillard also favor the style. It’s easy to create, versatile enough to be refined or relaxed and it works for all face shapes! For more summer hair trends, check out our gallery!
