Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens’s Extreme Makeover Finally Explained… by Dan Stevens

Apr 18, 2013 @ 11:10 am

Downton Abbey’s blonde-haired, blue-eyed hunk Dan Stevens (Matthew Crawley, swoon!) has had quite the makeover, debuting brunette locks and a trimmed-down physique a few weeks ago. Why the change? “It’s for a role,” Stevens revealed to InStyle.com at last night’s Calvin Klein and Human Rights Campaign supporting Americans for Marriage Equality event in New York. “I’m shooting [in New York] for the moment. It’s a crime thriller called A Walk Among the Tombstoneswith Liam Neeson, and Scott Frank directing. It’s a really nice team and we’re having a lot of fun.” Stevens added that his new look helps him go more incognito when he’s out and about. “It’s a bit of a self-made disguise,” he said. Though, Downton fans will be pleased to know he didn’t leave his roots totally behind. “I’ll always be a Crawley!” Awww.

Poll: What Do You Think of Dan Stevens’ New Brunette Hair?

Mar 18, 2013 @ 3:48 pm

He’s not Matthew Crawley anymore! Former Downton Abbey star Dan Stevens attended the GLAAD Awards this weekend, where he debuted a shorter brunette ‘do and some manly stubble to go with it—a far cry from the parted, slicked-back blonde hair and clean shave of Lady Mary’s late love (may he rest in peace). We love Stevens in all his forms (that accent helps), but tell us: Do you prefer Dan with his natural blonde hair, or are you loving the way this brunette chop makes his baby blues pop? (Swoon.) Vote in our poll below!

Let the battle for Lady Mary’s heart begin! While we’re still mourning the loss of beloved Cousin Matthew (Dan Stevens), who tragically died in a car crash just moments after seeing his newborn son, it seems that his widowed wife Lady Mary Crawley (Michelle Dockery) will be getting two new potential love interests for the fourth season of Downton Abbey. Joining the drama-filled estate will be aristocrat Charles Blake—played by Julian Ovenden (left), 36-year-old British actor who made his mark in West End productions across the pond—and Lord Gillingham, an old family friend who returns to the Abbey, which will be played by 27-year-old Welsh actor Tom Cullen (he starred in the mini-series World Without End). So, who will Lady Mary choose? Place your early bets in the comments below.

Michelle Dockery’s Stylist Wants to Keep Changing Her Look: Which Style Do You Prefer?

Jan 30, 2013 @ 8:30 am

After working with Downton Abbey beauty Michelle Dockery to achieve her un-Downton like Golden Globes red carpet Alexandre Vauthier look, stylist Micaela Erlanger told InStyle.com that she wanted to go for something different at Sunday night’s SAG Awards, where the star wore a black vintage Chado Ralph Rucci gown with sheer cutouts. “[SAG] will be equally as amazing as the Globes, but it will be different,” Erlanger told InStyle.com prior to the big day. “Whatever it is, it will be glamorous, but it will be different from what we just did.” And Michelle was enamored with the look as well: “I loved that it was vintage and I loved the shape of it,” she told InStyle.com on the SAG red carpet, just before she and the rest of the cast took home the SAG Award for best performance by an ensemble in a drama series. ”I just loved it!” So, which of the star’s two looks do you like better: Old Hollywood glamour, or daring black vintage? Vote below!
