The Time 100 Gala, held to celebrate the magazine’s list of 100 most influential people in the world, took over New York’s Lincoln Center last night! It was quite the star-packed affair, with celebrities including Justin Timberlake and his wife Jessica Biel (both in Tom Ford), Claire Danes (in Lanvin), Girls creator Lena Dunham (in Saint Laurent), Michael Kors, and Olivia Munn (in a dress by the designer) mixing and mingling at the event. The festivities included performances by Miguel and Christina Aguilera, as well as a rousing speech by Vice President Joe Biden who asserted to the audience, “This list is unified by a simple belief that it’s all about basically not being told it can’t be done.” Click the photo to see more.

Hello, Pierre Niney! Meet the Man Who Will Play Yves Saint Laurent

The Yves Saint Laurent film that will follow the late designer’s rise from Dior assistant to fashion visionary was only just announced, but already 18-year-old Pierre Niney has been cast as a young YSL. So, who is Pierre Niney? According to his Twitter (@pierreniney), the Frenchman describes himself as a actor, director, and author—a jack of all trades whose first language is the same as Saint Laurent’s. (Brownie points for authenticity.) He’s appeared in a impressive list of film festival-bound films, and photographs prove he can work Saint Laurent’s trademark thick-rimmed glasses with ease. The film is due out until 2014. Will you see it?

For his second outing at iconic French fashion house Saint Laurent, designer Hedi Slimane surprised us with a ’90s grunge-inspired collection. There were baby-doll dresses, oversize flannels, fishnets, and floral chiffon. While high-fashion and plaid flannel shirts don’t normally go hand-in-hand, Slimane did intersperse some luxe elements into the 48-look collection—like the blush fur coat (pictured at right) and some richly embroidered leather pieces. Tough-chic motorcycle boots and delicate strands of pearls finished off each look. See our favorites in the gallery.

Jennifer Hudson’s Super Bowl Outfit: Why She Wore It

Celebrity stylist Eric Archibald had an important goal in mind when he prepped Jennifer Hudson for her big pre-game performance of “America the Beautiful” with the Sandy Hook Elementary School survivors. “Jennifer wanted simple and classic,” Eric said in a statement. “She herself has overcome great tragedy and it was all about paying respect to the moment.” Archibald used the simple black-and-white Monika Chiang, L’Wren Scott, and Saint Laurent outfit to “highlight the emotional tones” of the performance, with one exception: the bright green ribbon Hudson wore to commemorate the December school shooting that claimed 26 young lives. “Little children being survivors like that…that’s the part that took me back in,” Hudson said. “They are conquerors, they are survivors. And they’re babies.”
