It may be a dream to get an invite to the annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but wearing one of the red-carpet dresses can be a reality. After Topshop dressed Julianne Hough, Nicole Richie, Jaime King, and Ashley Madekwe in custom creations for this year’s Punk: Chaos to Couture event (as seen above), the retailer announced that all of the designs will be available in stores and on topshop.com this September for $630 to $1,050. In addition, ModaOperandi.com put 15 dresses that walked the red carpet up for pre-order exclusively on the site, including Olivia Wilde’s Calvin Klein creation, Taylor Swift’s J.Mendel gown, and Dakota and Elle Fanning’s Rodarte looks; and you can place your orders at modaoperandi.com. Now that’s something that rocks.

Louise Roe Tells InStyle All About Her Fashion Star Outfit, Week 6

Apr 12, 2013 @ 2:30 pm

This dress is a true showstopper. It’s made by my friends [Connie Majoros and Fannie Chan] who run their own New York-based label, Femmes d’Armes. The first time I saw it on the hanger, my jaw dropped! I paired it with super cheap Zara studded heels that I’ve had in my closet for years, some plastic bracelets I got at the Valentino party last year, and a crazy ring from Topshop. I love to mix high and low. For the hair, we wanted to give it a messy boho vibe to balance out the glamorous feel of the dress, so for the first time ever, I tried a braid. At first we added a hair piece, but it made the braid so long and full it felt unnatural, so last minute right before I was due on stage, we whipped it out and threw together a new braid. I love how it turned out!

Dressing Kate Middleton: What the Mom-to-Be Should Wear for a Night Out With William

Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge has a bunch of events coming up on her social calendar—a baby on the way isn’t stopping her!—so, we’re doing some style prep for the Princess by picking out a look we’d like to see her wear for her next photo op. On deck: a night out on the town with Prince William. Here’s what we’d love to see her in when she takes a night off from her royal duties.

INSPIRATION
The gray embellished Matthew Williamson dress she wore to the London premiere of African Cats in 2012.

PICKS
Topshop’s ($390 at topshop.com) light gray beaded shift dress is an updated alternative for Kate as her bump continues to grow. The pearl embellishment along the sleeves and collar adds elegance, while the baby doll silhouette offers comfort, without sacrificing style. To finish off the look, pair the dress with black patent leather round toe pumps by Stuart Weitzman ($325 at stuartweitzman.com) and a coordinating rectangular clutch by Diane von Furstenberg ($395 at bloomingdales.com).

Kate Bosworth Sings in Topshop’s Holiday Video

Dec 4, 2012 @ 5:23 pm

After teasing the video for several days on their YouTube account, Topshop has finally revealed #whosthatgirl, the mystery star of their first-ever Christmas film: Kate Bosworth! The short film, directed by Michael Polish (Kate’s man) and inspired by Michelle Pffeifer’s famous piano scene in The Fabulous Baker Boys, has Bosworth in a very festive red party dress, singing the iconic holiday song “Winter Wonderland,” to a room full of awe-struck onlookers. “This project brings together two important aspects of my life: cinema and fashion,” Bosworth said in a statement. “I hope everyone enjoys watching it as much as we did making it!” The dress and shoes Kate wears in the video will be available as a special made-to-order on topshop.com to coincide with the new Topshop store opening in Los Angeles next February. And you can download Kate’s song on itunes.com now. Watch the clip above for a dose of holiday spirit, and scroll down for the star’s special message to InStyle readers.
