Every season, InStyle Fashion Director Cindy Weber Cleary picks out her favorite Fashion Week looks, and for the fall 2013 shows, she loved Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen‘s new lineup for The Row. “So, The Row is very understated, I know, but I love this coat and skinny pant, especially the white cuff under the trouser,” says Weber Cleary. “It doesn’t really come across as well in a photo as in real life, but these clothes are almost perfect. For spring 2013, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were in a romantic mood. Their soft, layered collection featured muted tones (with a few shots of red), rich details, and long, flowing hems. CFDA Awards 2012: The Olsens Win Big + What Everyone Wore

The fashion industry celebrated one of its biggest nights at the annual Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards, last night held at Lincoln Center in New York City. And there was no shortage of stars on hand to support their designer pals, including Dakota Fanning (in brocade Proenza Schouler), Lily Collins (in funnel-neck Marchesa), and Zoe Saldana (in Prabal Gurung). “I just wanted to be sexy and feel very womanly, and he wanted that, too,” the actress told InStyle.com of how she and Gurung collaboratively picked her look. “We don’t censor each other. We have so much mutual respect.” A newly-brunette Mary-Kate Olsen and sister Ashley walked away as the night’s biggest winners, when Jessica Chastain (in Prabal Gurung) presented the twins with the highly-coveted Womenswear Designer of the Year award for their label, The Row. “With the future of American fashion in such supremely talented hands, the next 50 years are going to be every bit as exciting as the last,” Chastain said. Jennifer Nettles on Duets: Exclusive Fashion Details

Jennifer Nettles sang for one million viewers during last night’s Duets episode, and we caught up with the country star to get the details on her outfits for the ABC show. “I loved the chic versatility of my wardrobe in the second episode,” Nettles told InStyle.com exclusively. “My team’s song choices were varied, so I wanted to make sure we could achieve two, individual looks while being able to do so within the very limited, ‘quick change’ time we had between performances.” Nettles worked with stylist Gillian Steinhardt to create her two looks, which included pieces from The Row, Helmut Lang, and Isabel Marant. The fall collection includes uncomplicated, easy-to-wear silhouettes in minimalistic, neutral colors like black, navy, camel, ivory, and beige. The pair’s newest designs include billowy caftans for evening, and even silky pajamas that you could easily picture the designers wearing themselves. Intricate folds, embroidery, and beading embellished the soft palette of whites, creams and blushes, giving the entire lineup a very grown-up feel both effortless and cool. The Row Teams Up with Toms Shoes!

The Row‘s Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are lending their style to Toms Shoes! The sisters debuted their capsule collection for the brand, and it features the signature Toms flats done up in cashmere and wool. “Having the opportunity to be a part of something so meaningful has made the collaboration with Toms so special to everyone at The Row,” Mary-Kate Olsen said in a statement. At $140 a pair, the shoes are marked at a much lower-price point than the rest of the Olsens’ designer label, and for each pair purchased, one will be given to a child in need.
