The Emmys recognize the talented teams that work their magic in front (and behind) the silver screens. But really, it’s the night for men and women alike to pull out all the stops. We’re talking about A-listers dripping in jewels, flashing all-over sequins, toting decadent clutches and more. Last night, we scouted the red carpet and rounded up the top fashion and beauty trends that will set the style bar for the rest of the year and beyond. Tina Fey (in Narciso Rodriguez) and Zooey Deschanel (in J. Mendel) stunned in shades of blue, Rose Byrne (in Calvin Klein) and Taylor Schilling (in Thakoon) proved that minimalism is still best. In beauty news, Kate Mara and Kerry Washington went natural in petal lips; and Sarah Hyland and Zosia Mamet reminded us that nail art isn’t going anywhere. What it was like: The venue had a relaxed, minimalist vibe.
Why we love this collection: Thakoon’s pretty spring collection was primarily black and white with feminine details, such as laser cutouts, lace appliqué and crystal-bead trim. At times, the accessories—ivory lace boots and pearl-covered shoulder bags—distracted. Slouchy trousers helped to offset the sweetness.

When it comes to effortless summer dressing, sundresses are the unproclaimed uniform of the season, not to mention a favorite way for A-listers like Nicole Richie (in Thakoon), Reese Witherspoon (in Kate Spade), Kiernan Shipka, and Jessica Alba (in Tory Burch) to stay cool and chic in rising temps. That’s why we rounded up the best celebrity sundresses for warm-weather outfit inspiration! From demure ruffles to bold citrus prints, this staple comes in all shapes and colors under the sun. If it were up to Anna Kendrick, she’d prefer comfort on the red carpet. “I would literally wear purple sweatpants, a purple pullover, purple socks, and purple slippers every day, red slippers if I was feeling fancy,” Kendrick told InStyle.com at Coach’s recent Third Annual Summer Party at The High Line in New York City. But since she’s a movie star and YouTube star (“Cups” has almost 20 million page views), sweatpants aren’t going to fly. And she’s getting used to it: “Fashion is like a new part of my life, and I really like experimenting and dressing up,” the actress said. “One day I’ll try to have a tougher look and the next day will be really romantic. I really enjoy wearing different outfits.” And it shows! From her black and blue Donna Karan Atelier gown at the 2013 Tony Awards to her printed orange and green Thakoon dress, it seems like her experimentation has only just begun. In a twist of seasons, designer Thakoon Panichgul drew inspiration for his fall beauty look from warmer climes. “Thakoon’s winter collection is inspired by summer,” said NARS lead makeup artist Diane Kendal. “It was a combination of rich fabrics with short-sleeved dresses, and heavy stoles with dragonflies.” Kendal reflected the deep tones with a piercing, slightly metallic, blue statement eye, while lead hairstylist Odile Gilbert created a sleek updo with avant-garde fringe for the hair. What’s better than turning 100? Turning 111! Bergdorf Goodman celebrated its birthday last night with a mega-bash at The Plaza, located across from its famous Fifth Avenue and 58th Street flagship. The New York design world came out for the retailer’s “111 Years of Extraordinary”-themed party, with designers and their muses covering every inch of the ballroom in the most extraordinary garb. The standouts included Coco Rocha in a Zac Posen bordeaux satin gown, rising style star Rita Ora in an old Hollywood-inspired white look by Emilio Pucci’s Peter Dundas, and Karolina Kurkova, who wore a Roberto Cavalli suit done in one of the label’s signature exotic prints. Other designer attendees included Thakoon Panichgul, Carolina Herrera, and Michael Kors. And, as if there weren’t enough showstoppers with the fashion alone, classical singer Sasha Lazard stopped by the party to perform “Happy Birthday” while a giant three-tiered cake—flaming with fireworks—was rolled on to the dance floor. Way to throw one “extraordinary” celebration, Berdgorf! Click through the gallery below for more photos from this week’s hottest parties.
