Golden Globes: Amanda Seyfried Is Still Looking for Her Dress

The Golden Globes are only four days away, and presenter Amanda Seyfried is still on the hunt for her dress! “When I land in L.A. tomorrow I’m going to my stylist’s house and she’ll show me dresses,” Seyfried told reporters at the National Board of Review Awards in New York last night, where she accepted the Best Ensemble honor with her Les Miserables co-stars (and her pals) Anne Hathaway and Eddie Redmayne. Given that her style includes a range of designer looks—such as a studded peach Bottega Veneta look for night’s event, a purple Alexander McQueen design, a flirty red Prabal Gurung look, and a sexy Balenciaga LBD, we predict she’ll choose another high-fashion piece to take the stage for Sunday’s show. Her only hint: “I think Stella McCartney is always doing something fun.” Could she be in Stella on Globes night? We’ll have to wait and see!

Queen Elizabeth Names Stella McCartney an Officer of the British Empire

Jan 2, 2013 @ 10:20 am

Her Majesty the Queen has just released her annual New Year Honours list, and Stella McCartney landed one of the 71 spots in this year’s lineup! McCartney, who designed the U.K.’s uniforms for this summer’s Olympic games and was named Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards, has been named an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for her “services to fashion.” The honor is one of the five orders of chivalry originally created by King George V in 1917 and still in place to this day. And since we already know the Duchess of Cambridge is a fan—she wore the designer’s vivid cobalt sheath twice in 2012we can only predict the princess will show off more of McCartney’s fashion-forward designs (and perhaps even maternity styles) this year!

Pantone’s 2013 Color of the Year: Emerald!

Dec 6, 2012 @ 12:12 pm

It’s official—the color authority, Pantone, has announced the top color for 2013 as (drum roll please) Emerald Green! The hue is a lush, recharging shade to follow in the footsteps of 2012’s bright tangerine. “[It is] the most abundant hue in nature—the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum,” Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said in a statement. “This powerful and universally-appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors.” The bold hue first hit our radar earlier this fall on the Spring 2013 runways, when designers including Stella McCartney and Chanel gave the the jewel tone a nod. Move over diamonds, emeralds are a girl’s best friend this year!

Stella McCartney won the top honor at tonight’s British Fashion Awards in London—Designer of the Year! The award, which was presented to her by Salma Hayek, marks the end of a great year for the designer, who created Team Great Britain’s Summer Olympics uniforms between designing her collections, launching her new lingerie line, and dressing celebrities ten times over, including Alicia Keys and Jessica Chastain. ”This is one of the most incredible years of my life, I thank everyone who fell in love with the 2012 Olympics,” she said during her acceptance speech. ”Something that I’ve learned this year is that great people make Great Britain.“ McCartney follows in the footsteps of Alexander McQueen’s creative director, Sarah Burton, who took home the prize last year, and her achievements also landed her the Designer Brand Award, which was presented to her by model-actress Amber Valletta. The awards also honored Roksanda Ilincic for Red Carpet, Erdem Moralioglu for New Establishment, and Manolo Blahnik for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion. Congrats, congrats, congrats!

The Black-and-White Trend: Which Stars Are Loving the Color Combo?

What’s black and white all over? Celebrity style this season. Stars are taking over the red carpet (and the streets!) in black-and-white ensembles, and we love the graphic color combination! Jessica Alba wore a menswear-inspired black and white number by Narciso Rodriguez to the Environmental Media Awards, Kristen Stewart followed suit in a black-and-white Balenciaga design for the AFI fest screening of her new movie, On the Road, and Cameron Diaz opted for a more feminine take on the trend with a simple satin dress by Stella McCartney at the world premiere of her movie, Gambit, in London. Meanwhile, Gwen Stefani also stepped out across the pond earlier this fall wearing black leather pants, a white turtleneck, and a black blazer. Click through the gallery to see more black-and-white looks on your favorite stars!
