It doesn’t get more glamorous than this at Cannes! The annual amfAR Cinema Against Aids Gala is traditionally the biggest red carpet event of the Cannes Film Festival, and the turnout at last night’s 20th anniversary of the event didn’t disappoint. Olivia Palermo (in Roberto Cavalli), Jessica Chastain (in Saint Laurent), Heidi Klum (in Marchesa), and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (in Dior), all came for the festivities to raise awareness and funds for amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, which is dedicated to research, prevention, and education for the disease. The night included dinner, dancing, and, as a special treat, a live fashion show sponsored by the World Gold Council’s LoveGold initiative where 38 models walked the runway in glittering gold designs for The Ultimate Gold Collection Fashion Show. Olivia Palermo Style Lesson #275: Make Your Belt Work Overtime

May 14, 2013 @ 12:00 pm

Olivia Palermo‘s flawless style is envy-inducing, especially when she finds new ways to reinvent old pieces. Case in point: Her ability to make her jeweled Zara belt work with both a formal gown (in Katie Ermilio at the New Yorkers for Children Spring Dinner Danceand a casual ensemble (over a LWD at the Metropolitan Museum of Art). Worn in two ways with very different ensembles, Palermo proves just how versatile a fabulous belt can be. Invest in one (like Zara’s combination chain belt, $36 at zara.com). You won’t regret it!

The Designer Behind Olivia Palermo’s Sunny Look: “I Love Her Ability to Make a Style Completely Her Own”

Apr 11, 2013 @ 10:30 am

Olivia Palermo brightened up the New Yorkers for Children Spring Dinner Dance in this sunny design—“I feel like Big Bird!” she told InStyle.com—and also brightened the day of its designer, Katie Ermilio. “She’s one of the younger designers I really want to support,” Palermo said of why she chose the look, a silk cap-sleeve piece with a jewel neckline and tulle-lined skirt, which she accessorized with a jeweled Zara belt and a clutch and shoes by Jimmy Choo. And Ermilio appreciates the style star’s encouragement: “I love Olivia’s ability to make a style completely her own,” the designer said. (Fun fact: Ermilio is the granddaughter of Grace Kelly’s personal clothier.) “She’s always making me see my clothes in new ways which is amazing.” This look also affirms women should be unafraid of yellow: “It’s one of the best colors for spring! Mix up a little yellow dress with a jeweled belt—it makes for a perfect spring date night outfit.” A version of the dress with a shorter skirt is available exclusively at Barneys New York ($2,750 at barneys.com).
