While some of us have to wait until this Sunday, February 10th to shop Prabal Gurung’s LOVE collection for Target, that’s not the case for celebrities! The Nepalese designer’s A-list fans, including Carey Mulligan, Elizabeth Olsen, Rashida Jones, and Olivia Thirlby all came out to the his boardwalk-themed launch party in New York wearing the colorful pieces in the LOVE line. “I love the way he is inspired to take art and turn it into something you can wear on your body,” Thirlby, who starred in the collection’s campaign video, told InStyle.com at the event, before heading over to the stage to listen to Ne-Yo perform his hit song, “Let Me Love You.” As for Gurung himself, it all comes down to love: “It might be exasperating for a lot of other guys, but I find it really enchanting,” he said. “I just wanted to remind women, whether they’re in a relationship or whether they’re single, not to forget the essence of love.” And in these sweet date-ready designs, how could we!

Prabal Gurung for Target’s 30-Second Romance Movie

Feb 6, 2013 @ 12:12 pm

Prabal Gurung’s romance-inspired LOVE collection for Target launches in stores and online this Sunday, and we’re loving the rom-com-inspired TV spot that goes along with it! The Nepalese designer, who counts Zoe Saldana, Michelle Obama, and Kate Middleton as fans, tapped Olivia Thirlby for the 30-second short, strolling through the New York Streets looking darling in his floral-filled dresses, jackets, skirts, tops, and heels. “This [collection] is my ode to the city that I love, people that I love, industry that I love,” Gurung told InStyle.com at the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation’s winners’ brunch. And the love really comes though! Watch the video above to check it out.

Check out the entire LOVE collection in the slideshow, and shop it all on target.com this Sunday!

Prabal Gurung Loves to Dress Celebrities (And He’s Dressed Tons This Awards Season)

After striking out on his own four years ago, designer Prabal Gurung has already seen his pieces land on countless celebrities—an amazing feat!—and he knows how special it is each time stars like (left to right) Olga Kurylenko, Marion Cotillard, January Jones, and Jennifer Lawrence step onto the red carpet wearing his clothes. “These actresses have a bazillion options, and you’re competing with big corporate houses, too,” Gurung told InStyle.com at the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation’s 2013 Winners’ Brunch in New York, where the designer was on hand to toast to the next generation of grant winners (he won in 2010). “So when [they choose mine], I’m always like, ‘Did this just happen?’ I don’t think it will ever change for me. I’m always really grateful. When they choose mine, it’s really gratifying and humbling.” And he expresses his gratitude every time he sees his piece on a star: “Before I go to bed, I always say, ‘Thank you so much,’ to the person.” And with his collections gaining even more in popularity, expect to see his celebrity fan base keep growing (and growing and growing!).

SAG Awards Fashion: January Jones’s Prabal Gurung Dress, Runway to Red Carpet

Jan 28, 2013 @ 1:36 pm

“It’s my tux dress!” Mad Men star January Jones told InStyle.com of the Prabal Gurung black-and-white gown she wore to last night’s Screen Actor’s Guild Awards. “I just wanted to wear a tux. And I wanted to be comfortable.” We love how the designer transformed the cocktail style from his pre-fall 2013 collection into a gown for Jones’s big night, as you can see here, which she accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and a Cartier bag. But there’s also another aspect of her dress you can’t tell just by looking at it: “Something that people don’t see is that the dress had a slit in it,” she explained. “I had them sew it up so it wouldn’t cheapen it!” We love the update, do you?

Prabal Gurung for Target Lookbook: Preview the Entire Collection

Jan 14, 2013 @ 5:12 pm

It’s love at first sight! Target first announced that celebrity-loved Prabal Gurung would be its next designer collaboration back in October—and now we scored a full preview of his love-inspired lineup! “It’s about this girl falling in love from the time she first sees the guy right until the time they get married,” Gurung told InStyle of his inspiration. “I had this idea of a girl who finds her journal in her attic and she starts to go through it and remembers.” The 80-piece capsule includes floral frocks, patterned tops, and winsome accessories that tie in the Nepalese designer’s now-signature romantic style. “I hope the woman who buys my designs feels a bit of happiness and romance when wearing them,” Gurung said. The items—which range from $20 to $200 for clothes and $13 to $40 for accessories—land in stores and on target.com February 10th. Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Style Moment: Jennifer Lawrence’s Chopard Jewelry

Jan 11, 2013 @ 11:18 am

The biggest bling always comes out during awards season! Case in point: Jennifer Lawrence’s Chopard jewels during last night’s 18th annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards. The star—who took home the Best Actress in a Comedy for Silver Linings Playbook and Best Actress in an Action Movie for The Hunger Games awards—accessorized her Prabal Gurung gown with 38 carats of diamonds (chandelier earrings were 19, asscher-cut line bracelet was 16, and a cocktail ring was 3). Stunning, don’t you think?

Golden Globes: Amanda Seyfried Is Still Looking for Her Dress

Jan 9, 2013 @ 11:20 am

The Golden Globes are only four days away, and presenter Amanda Seyfried is still on the hunt for her dress! “When I land in L.A. tomorrow I’m going to my stylist’s house and she’ll show me dresses,” Seyfried told reporters at the National Board of Review Awards in New York last night, where she accepted the Best Ensemble honor with her Les Miserables co-stars (and her pals) Anne Hathaway and Eddie Redmayne. Given that her style includes a range of designer looks—such as a studded peach Bottega Veneta look for night’s event, a purple Alexander McQueen design, a flirty red Prabal Gurung look, and a sexy Balenciaga LBD, we predict she’ll choose another high-fashion piece to take the stage for Sunday’s show. Her only hint: “I think Stella McCartney is always doing something fun.” Could she be in Stella on Globes night? We’ll have to wait and see!
