The MTV Movie Awards continued in grand tradition last night at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California, and there were plenty of stars on-hand to take in the most outrageous awards show in cinema. Harry Potter star Emma Watson (in Maxime Simoëns) took home MTV’s Trailblazer Award, and as she accepted the gilded popcorn statue, she got a little emotional. “You have supported me in all of my awkwardness and allowed me to grow into the kind of actress and person that I hope to be,” Watson told the audience. “Becoming yourself is really hard and confusing, and it’s a process.” Bradley Cooper accepted the award for Best Male Performance for his work in Silver Linings Playbook from presenter Melissa McCarthy, and Django Unchained stars Jaime Foxx and Kerry Washington (in Michael Kors) had a reunion backstage. When it comes to shapewear, Beyonce, Emma Watson, and Jennifer Lopez all turn to one brand to guarantee their red carpet outfits look smooth: dMondaine, a line designed by Kiana Anvaripour. These ladies love the brand’s bralettes, panties, and bodysuits because they’re made to gently hug your curves and still leave enough wiggle room to feel like you haven’t cut off your circulation. “They’re sexy,” explained Watson’s stylist, Anita Patrickson, who also dresses Julianne Hough and Bond girl Berenice Marlohe. “They cover all problem areas and add an extra layer of confidence when they’re on the red carpet.” Plus, the brand just launched its new spring collection, which includes a pink-striped bra (above) preferred by Beyonce—a fun twist on the traditional monotone shaper—as well as the signature Marilyn (nude) and Victoria (black) pieces. Check out more of dMondaine’s six-piece core collection, available on net-a-porter.com for $79 to $169.

Cate Blanchett and Emma Watson: The French Twist at Any Age

Oct 16, 2012 @ 6:02 pm

We’re loving the modern spin that Cate Blanchett and Emma Watson put on the classic French twist at last night’s Women in Hollywood party. Their pinned coif’s looked effortlessly chic. And, as proven by the actresses, a textured chignon with loose, face-framing pieces works at any age. To recreate the style, apply a coat of volumizer (from roots to ends) to blow-dried hair. Using a paddle brush, gently smooth the hairline and brush strands upward to create lift. Next, tease the crown and vertical sections on the sides, then pull strands back as if you are creating a low ponytail. While holding hair with one hand, begin twisting the “pony” up and to the left with your other hand. Continue until all of your hair is tightly wound. Fold the ends into the newly formed chignon and secure with pins. Allow short layers to fall, but tuck longer pieces into the updo.
