There may not have been a particular source of inspiration for Oscar de la Renta‘s bridal collection for Fall 2014, but the designer did look to his previous lines for some help. The strapless pink dress with a Watteau train that showed in his Resort 2014 line was re-envisioned for the bride, modifying the asymmetric hemline to graze the floor, lengthening the train and swapping out the blush hue for a traditional ivory wash. Clean and minimalist at first glance, it’s the wedding gown’s dramatic-yet-elegant back that steals the show. The other nine dresses aren’t as understated. More like confectionery creations, the rest of the collection display intricate detailing, like hand-cut cotton daisy guipure applique, all-over pearl embroidery and lace painted silk gazar. How long does it take for a runway look to make it to an awards show red carpet? In the case of this year’s Emmys only ten days! Kiernan Shipka (in Delpozo), Kerry Washington (in Marchesa), and Jessica Paré (in Oscar de la Renta) all wore dresses that appeared on the catwalk during the spring 2014 shows at New York Fashion Week (that’s less than two weeks ago) with Allison Williams wearing a gown that was inspired by a look supermodel Karlie Kloss wore at the Ralph Lauren show. Talk about fast fashion! Click the photo above to see the fresh-off-the-runway dresses both at the shows and on the stars.
The biggest stars in television are arriving at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles for the 65th Annual Primetime Emmys, and we have all of the details on what they’re wearing as they make their way down the red carpet. Park and Recreations star Aubrey Plaza wore a lace Marios Schwab dress, one of the night’s presenters and New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel went for an ice blue J. Mendel blue gown, Project Runway super host Heidi Klum sparkled in a sexy pomegranate design by Versace, and Mad Men‘s Jessica Paré looked gorgeous in an Oscar de la Renta dress straight from the spring 2014 runway. Last year, Girls star made her Emmys weekend debut with an especially big fashion moment—Oscar de la Renta dressed her exclusively. For her second go-around at tonight’s Emmys, she is confirmed to wear Ralph Lauren, though she did make sure to give a nod to who put her on the fashion map last year by wearing an Oscar de la Renta dress to yesterday’s BAFTA Tea, held at the SLS Hotel. Even better, her ODLR design was fresh off the runway — the piece just walked at New York Fashion Week the week before. “It’s just such a special treat to be able to wear it,” Williams told InStyle.com. “I thought it was appropriate for the occasion, and I really like that it’s technically a white dress with black polka dots, but it has a lot else going on.” She finished the look with Jimmy Choo shoes, a Louboutin clutch and Jacob and Co. bracelet.

It’s been three days since the wrap of New York Fashion Week, and we’ve had enough time to collect ourselves and digest all that we saw. And what we saw included everything, from the beautiful and ornate to the extreme. This year, we were surprised with unexpected headwear that topped the models’ looks on the runway (and no, we’re not just talking about baseball caps). The three that reigned supreme? The beekeeper-like veils at The Row, a swathed nest-like wrap at Oscar de la Renta and netted pieces at Thom Browne. Thanks to these unexpected looks, we might be looking for something a little unconventional come spring.

Very rarely does a makeup look stand out and blend in all at once, but the glowing effect created by Gucci Westman for Oscar de la Renta‘s Spring 2014 show did just that. We love how it didn’t outshine de la Renta’s intricate gowns, but held an ethereal effect all on its own. “The clothes had somewhat of a ’50s and ’60s feel, and I was very inspired by Kim Novak and Tippi Hedren for this look — classic beauties that are timeless and cool,” Westman told us backstage before the show. “I’ve also been wanting to do a lip gloss all week, so we’re doing that here. We’re using the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters in Pink Lemonade and Juicy Papaya ($8 each; drugstore.com) and are layering the Lip Gloss in Snow Pink ($8; drugstore.com) on top.” For the eyes, Westman used the primer from Revlon’s Shadow + Sparkle in Metropolitan ($8; drugstore.com), then blended three violet, pink, and peach hues from her spring collaboration with the brand over the lids, concentrating the deeper shades near the lash line. The champagne color from the Not Just Nudes Creme Shadow Palette ($6; drugstore.com) provided a subtle highlight, and the beige side of Revlon’s PhotoReady Intense Eyeliner in Purple Reign ($9; drugstore.com) gave models a wide-eyed effect when swept onto the lower lash line. A few coats of the Lash Potion Mascara ($8; drugstore.com) added subtle definition. “Make sure to blend the shadows very well,” Westman added. “Peach, coral, and pink tones all go good together, and are easy to blend.”

Congrats to the happy couple! Kate Bosworth and director husband Michael Polish tied the knot this weekend in Phillipsburg, Montana. The pair, who frequented summer music festivals and New York Fashion Week front-row and hand-in-hand this past year, had the Martha Stewart Weddings team on-hand to plan, execute, and document all the details. According to the staff, the actress wore two custom Oscar de la Renta gowns, and the groom chose Brooks Brothers. Bosworth completed her look with gorgeous Jimmy Choo ”Lotus” heels. Bosworth made a popular choice for bridal footwear–her jeweled sandals appear to be sold out everywhere! The big question: Where will the two honeymoon?

We have a serious style crush on Rachel Bilson so we were thrilled to go behind-the-scenes with her and her makeup artist Amy Nadine to prep for the premiere of her new movie, The To Do List. Of her beauty inspiration Nadine told InStyle.com exclusively, “Because Rachel’s Oscar de la Renta dress was so feminine and sweet, we wanted to edge up the look a little bit, like a punk butterfly.” To create her perfect pink pout, Nadine first applied Tarte’s LipSurgence Lip Tint (Bilson’s personal favorite) in the bold pink Amused ($34; tartecosmetics.com), but once she threw on her dress, they decided to blot down the color and apply the light pink LipSurgence™ Matte Lip Tint in Lucky ($34; tartecosmetics.com) on top.
