Nina Dobrev Says What We’re All Thinking: She’s Looking Forward to Jennifer Lawrence’s Oscars Red Carpet Moment

Feb 24, 2013 @ 3:00 pm

Thirty minutes after getting off a plane from Atlanta, Nina Dobrev hit the beachside red carpet at the Film Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica—there to support her Best First Feature-winning film The Perks of Being a Wallflower—looking perfectly polished in a Michael Kors shorts and embellished tank ensemble. Not far away was Jennifer Lawrence, clad in Lanvin, and Dobrev told us Lawrence is the one person she’s most looking forward to seeing on the Oscars red carpet. “I think she’s going to win, so I’d love to know what the Best Actress is going to be wearing!” Dobrev told InStyle.com. “Her whole attitude is very unapologetic. That’s cool. That’s how it should be. A confident woman is the most attractive woman.” With the red carpet just hours away—who are you most looking forward to seeing?

And when you do, you can make your own best-dressed list here!

Runway Looks We Love: Michael Kors

Feb 13, 2013 @ 8:30 pm

There was an energetic vibe in the air at the Michael Kors fall runway show, which the designer described as “urban athleticism meets uptown polish.” His vision translated into a powerful lineup of sporty-chic separates—think rubberized pullovers and camo-printed fur—and athletic-meets-glamorous evening looks, the latter of which cleverly mixed basic black minidresses with eye-catching peplum skirts, complete with floor-sweeping trains. In addition to the high-performance fabrics, the color palette was equally bold, from taxicab yellow to neon orange. The accessories, always an instant must-have, included pointy-toe pumps, goggle sunglasses, and structured bags that added an uptown-girl edge. See our favorite looks in the gallery!

Side Effects: Rooney Mara and Catherine Zeta-Jones on Their Psych-Inspired Wardrobes

Feb 1, 2013 @ 11:28 am

Catherine-Zeta Jones and Rooney Mara looked ultra-glamorous wearing Michael Kors and Alexander McQueen, respectively, at last night’s New York premiere of their thriller Side Effects, hosted by The Cinema Society and Michael Kors. But for their roles in the movie—in which Mara plays a severely depressed woman with a secret and Zeta-Jones her former psychiatrist—their wardrobe took a more disturbed turn. “When I’m feeling sad or lazy, it’s hard for me to get dressed. You just want to be comfortable,” Mara told InStyle.com on the red carpet. “Me and [costume designer] Susan Lyell talked a lot about wanting [my character Emily] to be in comfortable, loose clothes. That was really important.” Zeta-Jones had a different approach. “It was a fine line, because I play a psychiatrist and am a woman,” Zeta-Jones said. “Obviously there’s a danger and a sexiness to my character. So we didn’t want to push it too much. I wanted to have some sexiness to her, but keep it in the realm of a doctor.” Wardrobe really does inform a character! The edge-of-your-seat film opens nationwide February 8.

Another Reason to Love Michael Kors: His New Partnership with the United Nations

Jan 31, 2013 @ 11:33 am

Michael Kors is ready to fight hunger! The designer just announced that he’s teaming up with the United Nations World Food Programme on a series of campaigns, events, and special products to help stop the international food crisis. First order of business: launching two unisex watches this March—one in rose gold, pictured here—as part of the “Watch Hunger Stop” campaign. “It’s a gift to be able to use your success to help others,” Kors said in an exclusive statement to InStyle.com. “This partnership with the World Food Programme means our company and our customers can help make sure that people don’t go hungry.” The watches will come in two sizes—the smaller retailing for $295 and the larger, $325—and each watch sold will be able to feed 100 children through the Programme. Kors is also encouraging us to donate through texting—watch this PSA with Seth Meyers and Olivia Munn to learn all about it.
