Louise Roe Tells InStyle All About Her Fashion Star Outfit, Week 9

I saw this Catherine Malandrino dress in the showroom and just had to try it on. It’s way more low-cut than I usually wear, but the zingy emerald green silk caught my eye and bright blocks of color often translate well on TV. I wanted to give my look an art deco edge in honor of spring’s Great Gatsby obsession, so my makeup artist Rachel Wood swept my hair to the side and found a gorgeous vintage Amber hair piece to pin on top. We worked the eye makeup around the amber tone with a dramatic bronze smoky eye. As for the shoes, I figured a gold sandal was the obvious choice to pair with such a classic dress silhouette, so I went for something a little more edgy—a pair of white, bejeweled Jimmy Choos with a thick ankle strap.

Louise Roe Tells InStyle All About Her Fashion Star Outfit, Week 8

Apr 26, 2013 @ 2:00 pm

The print on this Halston minidress is gorgeous. I was drawn to the mustard tones, which made me feel very 1970s glam. I went for a faux-bob with my hair, but a loose, wavy one to keep the look relaxed. I wore killer yellow metallic heels from one of my faves, Jimmy Choo, and then my absolute talisman, a ring designed by my friend Mesi Jilly. She has them all made in Italy and you can choose the stone—mine is Labradorite and it changes tone in different lights. This look was quite sophisticated and different from what I usually throw on, but I had fun wearing it!

Louise Roe Tells InStyle All About Her Fashion Star Outfit, Week 7

Apr 19, 2013 @ 5:30 pm

“This is probably my favorite look of the entire season. I went big hair, big earrings, big heels, and a crazy ’70s jumpsuit! Charlie’s Angels was definitely an inspiration this week, with a bright twist. The jumpsuit is by Paul & Joe, and I am obsessed with the color orange. Wearing it head-to-toe felt bold but scary, which is why I chose Jimmy Choo sandals to warm up the look. I wanted to add a splash of a another bold color, so I went for cobalt blue accessories. The earrings, ring, and bracelet are a mix of vintage, Kitson, and Saint Laurent. I told you last week that I like to mix up the high and low! Whatever works on the outfit is what I’ll pick. Labels definitely don’t matter.

Exclusive: Selena Gomez’s Stylist on Her MTV Movie Awards Looks!

Apr 15, 2013 @ 3:15 pm

Selena Gomez went for a come-and-get-it look for last night’s MTV Movie Awards—an attitude that matched the name of her new single that she performed—and her stylist Basia Richard gave InStyle.com all the details on her two looks. For the red carpet, she went with a gold, embroidered Julien Macdonald mini, originally chosen as a performance contender. “Selena fell so in love with this dress that it was instantly her first choice for the carpet,” Richard told InStyle.com, noting that she kept the accessories simple with metallic peep-toe Jimmy Choo heels. For her Bollywood-inspired performance, Richard chose to add more sparkle and embellishment to a red Marco Marco design with Swarovski crystals and gold pieces—which, pssst, you’ll also seen in an upcoming video. “I made the skirt fuller, I wanted it very sensual, very tribal,” she said. As for our favorite detail, Selena’s sparkly bindi? “That was her makeup artist, Karan Mitchell’s idea,” Richards said. “We loved it so much everyone on the team was wearing a different color backstage!” Love it!

The Designer Behind Olivia Palermo’s Sunny Look: “I Love Her Ability to Make a Style Completely Her Own”

Apr 11, 2013 @ 10:30 am

Olivia Palermo brightened up the New Yorkers for Children Spring Dinner Dance in this sunny design—“I feel like Big Bird!” she told InStyle.com—and also brightened the day of its designer, Katie Ermilio. “She’s one of the younger designers I really want to support,” Palermo said of why she chose the look, a silk cap-sleeve piece with a jewel neckline and tulle-lined skirt, which she accessorized with a jeweled Zara belt and a clutch and shoes by Jimmy Choo. And Ermilio appreciates the style star’s encouragement: “I love Olivia’s ability to make a style completely her own,” the designer said. (Fun fact: Ermilio is the granddaughter of Grace Kelly’s personal clothier.) “She’s always making me see my clothes in new ways which is amazing.” This look also affirms women should be unafraid of yellow: “It’s one of the best colors for spring! Mix up a little yellow dress with a jeweled belt—it makes for a perfect spring date night outfit.” A version of the dress with a shorter skirt is available exclusively at Barneys New York ($2,750 at barneys.com).

Jimmy Choo to Launch Second Perfume, Flash

Dec 21, 2012 @ 3:00 pm

We’ve only just finished our holiday wish lists, but Jimmy Choo’s second fragrance is already getting us excited for spring! The label is following his eponymous first scent with Flash, a modern floral with notes of pink pepper, tuberose, and white lily. “We see fragrance as another accessory,” said the label’s creative director Sandra Choi, who drew inspiration for the flacon from a modernist 1970s chandelier. “We want women to feel as excited as they do when they buy a pair of shoes, or a handbag.” Find Flash at Nordstrom and nordstrom.com in March, priced from $75 to $98.
