InStyle Honors Jason Wu: Inside the Party!

Apr 20, 2012 @ 11:30 am

Some of Jason Wus faithful celebrity fans—including Ginnifer Goodwin, Gabrielle Union, and Krysten Ritter—were happy to catch some face time with the New York designer during his visit to the City of Angels at a dinner hosted by InStyle last night. “I’m not in Los Angeles all the time,” Wu said at the soiree, which was held in the penthouse of the Soho House in West Hollywood, where Wu-designed candles flickered around the room. “When I’m here, I enjoy meeting the actors and actresses who do such a different form of art than what I do. To be able to work with them now is really special.” See more stars in the gallery.

Do You Own a Peplum Dress?

Mar 8, 2012 @ 10:35 am

Peplum is popular this year! Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge visited De Montfort University in Leicester, England today wearing a teal dress and fitted peplum jacket by L.K. Bennett, while Blake Lively (in Jason Wu), Jennifer Aniston (in Tom Ford), and Michelle Williams (in Louis Vuitton) also wore the fit-flare style recently. So, why is it such a statement look? “It has the power to minimize your waist but achieves it by inciting a flurry of attention around your hips,” InStyle Fashion Director Hal Rubenstein has said. “This little flourish is worth the risk if it winds up accentuating something positive.” Tell us: Do you own a peplum dress?

Jason Wu Says New Gowns Are Going to the Oscars

Feb 26, 2012 @ 4:05 pm
Jason Wu Oscars 2012ImaxTree (3)

Jason Wu’s newest designs are headed to the Oscars! The designer said it himself, just after he showed his fall 2012 collection on the runway during New York Fashion Week 16 days ago. “You will see them at the Oscars,” Wu told InStyle.com of his latest creations. “That’s all I’m going to say. I can’t say right now which ones. Let’s just say the pieces have been otherwise reserved.” The three looks above are the most red-carpet worthy of the lineup, but which one will land on the biggest red carpet of the year? And on who? If we had to guess, we’d pick Best Actress nominee Michelle Williams. Not only is she a longtime fan of Wu, but she also just recently wore a navy gown of his to the Golden Globes in January. Plus, she would look fabulous in any of the dresses above. Though, for whoever wears his designs, Wu did offer one tip for rocking the red carpet: “Always be yourself and try something different,” he said. “Break out from the pack.” We can’t wait to see if his gown prediction comes true tonight!
