This Is The Dress Zoe Saldana Felt Safest In

Mar 15, 2012 @ 5:10 pm

If there’s one thing Zoe Saldana learned from her fashion choices, it’s that you have to be fearless. “I have a hard time with intimidation because I’m not usually intimidated,” the actress told us of her style at yesterday’s 25 Most Powerful Stylists Luncheon hosted by The Hollywood Reporter and Jimmy Choo in Los Angeles. “Not because I’m arrogant. I’m just so focused in my world.” Case in point—her 2009 Oscars dress, which she picked with the help of her stylist, Petra Flannery (inset). “Everybody was expecting that Givenchy outfit to be intimidating because I was wearing something so bold,” she said. “[That dress] was speaking to my heart. I was everything but intimidated. I never felt so safe and confident!” See more of Zoe Saldana’s best outfits ever in the gallery.

Rooney Mara On Her Oscars Gown: ‘I Like Simple Things’

Feb 26, 2012 @ 5:05 pm

Rooney Mara is known for her avant-garde red carpet style, so when we caught up with the actress at the Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon, we had to ask about her hunt for an Oscars gown. “The most important thing to me is to feel comfortable,” the Best Actress nominee said. “And not just comfortable—but I have to feel good in it. I think that’s really important.” Like her Girl With the Dragon Tattoo character Lisbeth Salander, Mara prefers a neutral palette. “I like simple things. I don’t like to wear anything too crazy. I don’t like that much color,” she told InStyle.com. And she revealed her big pick on the Oscars red carpet tonight—a white Givenchy couture gown!

What a show! Madonna scored big with her half-time show during last night’s Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis. Her 12-minute set—in which she dressed in head-to-toe Givenchy, Bulgari earrings, and a Philip Treacy headdress—included some of her biggest hits, like “Vogue,” “Music,” “Express Yourself,” mixed in with her new single, “Give Me All Your Luvin’” featuring cheerleaders M.I.A. and Nicki Minajand even a Material Girl-remix of “Party Rock Anthem” with LMFAO. For her finale, she performed “Like a Prayer,” joined by a choir and Cee Lo Green. “People say everything has a limit, but limits do not exist with Madonna,” said Givenchy Haute Couture designer Riccardo Tisci, who created all of her looks for the show. So, what did you think? Total touchdown?! (And, oh yeah, the Giants won.) See more amazing moments from Madonna’s Super Bowl half-time show in the gallery!

Givenchy Customized a Lip Color for Liv Tyler

Jan 23, 2012 @ 4:05 pm

Liv Tyler is one lucky woman! When the Robot and Frank star stopped by InStyle‘s Sundance portrait studio, she revealed that her pretty berry lip color came from a custom-blended gloss stick made especially for her by the beauty team at Givenchy. “I’m trying to convince them to add it to their collection and call it ‘Liv’s Lips,’” said Tyler, who also serves as the face of the label’s fragrance and makeup campaigns. While the couture color is exclusively hers for now, Tyler did share a simple tip that anyone can do at home: “If your lips are really dry, you can just literally put olive oil on them at night.” We tried it and it worked—thanks Liv!
