Christian Lacroix Gave Chivas a Makeover

May 19, 2011 @ 4:45 pm

Here’s something to glam up your summer cocktail parties: Christian Lacroix teamed up with Chivas Scotch whisky on a limited-edition bottle makeover. The decadent design features a crystal-encrusted label and comes nestled in a Jacquard-fabric-covered box. “The encasing was inspired by a French renaissance reliquary which we have recreated with the symbols cherished by both Chivas Regal and the Christian Lacroix House—the Lion, the Crest, and the embroideries of a torero’s cape, the 20th century knight,” Lacroix’s Creative Director Sacha Wolkoff told InStyle. “As for the bottle, we have dressed it with a hand embroidered brocade escutcheon, such as were the doublets from the Middle Ages.” The bottle hits shelves tomorrow, and New Yorkers can purchase it at Astor Wines for $495. Cheers!

Diane Kruger and Marion Cotillard consistently blow us away with their gorgeous red carpet choices—Kruger’s fuchsia Christian Lacroix gown (far left) at the Golden Globes and Cotillard’s beaded ivory Elie Saab Couture (center) at the SAG Awards were particularly memorable—and we were amazed to learn that neither actress employs a stylist.  “[Diane and Marion] are both clearly working with very sophisticated and informed taste levels in terms of style and importantly, they understand what looks good on them,” stylist Arianne Phillips told TheDailyBeast.com. With so many eyes on the red carpet, it’s a brave move for any star to go it alone, and stylist Shirley Kurata explains that we may see more actresses sporting their own picks. “Studios are cutting budgets for stylists, so a lot of girls are dressing themselves,” she said. Whatever the reason, it’s refreshing to know that burgeoning style stars such as Mad Men‘s January Jones, who looked chic in black Lanvin (far right) for the Golden Globes, are still getting noticed in dresses of their own choosing. “She definitely caught my eye,” said Phillips. “January is clearly one to watch.”
