See the Most Beautiful Red Carpet of Cannes: amfAR Cinema Against Aids Gala

May 24, 2013 @ 12:30 pm

It doesn’t get more glamorous than this at Cannes! The annual amfAR Cinema Against Aids Gala is traditionally the biggest red carpet event of the Cannes Film Festival, and the turnout at last night’s 20th anniversary of the event didn’t disappoint. Olivia Palermo (in Roberto Cavalli), Jessica Chastain (in Saint Laurent), Heidi Klum (in Marchesa), and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (in Dior), all came for the festivities to raise awareness and funds for amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, which is dedicated to research, prevention, and education for the disease. The night included dinner, dancing, and, as a special treat, a live fashion show sponsored by the World Gold Council’s LoveGold initiative where 38 models walked the runway in glittering gold designs for The Ultimate Gold Collection Fashion Show. See Marchesa’s New Wedding Dress Collection: 17 Princess-Worthy Designs

Apr 24, 2013 @ 2:30 pm
MarchesaCourtesy Photo (3)

Marchesa co-founders Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman debuted their spring 2014 collection of wedding dresses, all inspired by the “exquisite couture styles of the 1950s.” The 17 designs featured all the rich and dramatic details you’d expect from the opulent source, like dramatic circle skirts, re-embroidered lace, and lavish layers of tulle. There was an element of grandeur to the romantic designs, which ranged from sweet minis to princess-worthy ballgowns. Click the photo to see the entire show.

Having a Moment: Oblivion Star Olga Kurylenko on the Red Carpet

To Oblivion, and beyond! That’s where Olga Kurylenko and her co-star Tom Cruise have been promoting their action-packed sci-fi flick, which hits theaters nationwide April 19. And for the movie’s global red carpet tour, the 33-year-old Ukrainian born actress has proven herself a darling of the fashion world, with some of the biggest labels dressing her every appearance. In Moscow, she picked a lilac Elie Saab Haute Couture floral embroidered dress; in Dublin, she went sleek with an emerald column by Roland Mouret; in London, she donned a black lace-trim Marchesa; and in Los Angeles, she picked a plunging embroidered satin Burberry design. And her love of fashion is newly-acquired: “I now understand this thing about taking care of yourself before leaving the house, no matter where you go,” she told InStyle last spring. Even when she travels, too: “I was getting ready to leave [on a flight], and my boyfriend asked me, ‘Why don’t you put on sneakers?’ And I said, ‘No way!’ I had on high-heeled boots. Heels were something that just didn’t exist for me before. But now I feel like I’m a woman.”

Remember when we announced just last week that Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman designed an affordable evening collection for JCPenney? Well the line is already here! The department store decided to bump up the release of Chapman’s Pearl dresses by four days, meaning that you can already shop the lady’s couture lookalikes, with floral and lace details on separates and minis ($50 to $110) plucked straight from the runway, on jcpenney.com right now. “I love dressing all women—celebrities or otherwise—but personally my favorites are those who are risk-takers, who aren’t afraid to push boundaries,” Chapman told InStyle.com. So ladies: Take that risk—on Pearl’s scalloped lace shorts, perhaps?—and get shopping!

Runway Looks We Love: Marchesa

Feb 14, 2013 @ 3:37 pm

At Marchesa‘s fall 2013 fashion show, held at the new York Public Library, dynamic designer duo Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig took their post-show runway bow looking like the epitome of glamorous motherhood. Not only is Chapman eight months pregnant, but Craig just gave birth to her second child less than a week ago. Nonetheless, the unstoppable pair showed an intricately detailed collection of romantic, yet deconstructed looks. After opening the show with a sprinkling of chic day looks, the show gave way to the main attraction: red carpet-worthy gowns featuring standout draping, embroidery, and sheer overlays in rich colors like amethyst, fuchsia, and blood red. Marchesa fans like Naomi Watts and Amy Adams will have plenty of options come Oscar night. See our favorite looks in the gallery!
