Our favorite looks this week—plucked from our Look of the Day sectionwere all about two of Spring’s biggest trends: black and white, and red. First, Jennifer Lawrence lit up the Golden Globes red carpet in a belted Dior Haute Couture gown, Jessica Alba went bold in a checkerboard Louis Vuitton sheath, Emmy Rossum chose a curve-hugging Andrew Gn sheath, Jessica Chastain wore a sleek Dolce & Gabbana ensemble, and Scarlett Johansson smoldered in Dolce & Gabbana and turquoise Irene Neuwirth earrings. 5 Shades of Grey Seen at Emmys 2012

In a year when every woman on Earth (and their mothers) read E.L. James’s Fifty Shades of Grey, the color now associated with BDSM-obsessed fictional Seattle businessman Christian Grey made a strong showing at the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. American Horror Story’s Connie Britton sparkled from head to toe in an ashy Andrew Gn halter dress, Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland co-designed her beaded dove Notte by Marchesa look, Homeland’s Morena Baccarin chose a deep-plunging Basil Soda slate design, Mad Men bombshell Christina Hendricks worked a silver curve-hugging Christian Siriano mermaid gown, and Revenge’s Emily VanCamp chose a foggy J. Mendel gown (one of a number of stars who donned a Gilles creation). Looks like everyone has a little Anastasia Steele in them—or at least the love of something grey!

Emmys 2012: Cat Deeley on Getting Ready for the Red Carpet

Sep 23, 2012 @ 8:08 pm

Cat Deeley is nominated for the Best Reality Show Host award—up against Betty White, Ryan Seacrest, Tom Bergeron, and Phil Keoghan—and we caught up with her to find out how she gets ready for a mega-glam moment such as the Emmys. “On big nights, hair, makeup, driver, and my manager always come with me,” she told InStyle.com. “I’m terrified at doing things like this because I’m one of the clumsiest people on the planet. For me to get from A to B is dreadful. I always think, ‘Oh my gawd. I’m going to trip. Or have I got something in my teeth? Or is my skirt hitched up?’ I’m the worst!” In her poppy Andrew Gn look tonight, we have to say she had nothing to worry about!

Plus, see more of tonight’s nominees.

Emma Stone’s Custom Dress: Designer Andrew Gn Explains

Jun 22, 2012 @ 12:15 pm

Emma Stone packed a pretty wardrobe for her world tour to promote The Amazing Spider-Man, including this little white dress with a lace-up neckline that she wore for the Berlin premiere. The design was entirely custom, thanks to the collaboration between her stylist Petra Flannery and designer Andrew Gn. “Petra and I chose that particular dress for Emma, thinking that its smart and crisp look would perfectly fit her natural elegance,” Gn (shown inset) told InStyle.com exclusively of the look, which he adapted from the black velvet version shown on his fall 2012 runway. “We thought a white version for a summer event would enhance even more Emma’s exceptional radiance and charisma.” And he was pleased with how it turned out once she hit the red carpet: “I’m thrilled with the way she looks, graceful, easy, and extremely chic,” he told us. “A true princess with a brilliant future ahead.” Success!
