Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge pulled from Amanda Wakeley’s previous collections to find the formal evening gown look she wore to an event honoring the Prince Charles-founded charity In Kind Direct in London this week. The British designer originally showed off the look as part of her fall 2006 collection, and sent it down the runway in a shade of pale ivory-yellow with black criss-crossing beaded straps. The update for the Duchess included changing the color to a shade of ice blue, adding silver beads rather than black, and moving the waist up to right beneath the bustline. Take a closer look at the dress in the gallery.
Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge came out from behind her royal walls yesterday to support the opening of a children’s unit at the Royal Marsden cancer center in London looking so chic. While she is partial to shades of navy, she chose a lighter neutral with this three-quarter sleeve Amanda Wakeley dress, which the British designer describes officially as an “oatmeal” hue. The exact style is available online at amandawakeley.com for $700. However, the only size left is 16; the other sizes sold out after the Duchess wore the look.

Today marked one of the last times we’re going to see Kate Middleton before her April 29th wedding. So breathe it in. The princess-to-be and her Prince stepped out today to visit young people in Darwen, Lancashire, a northwest section of the United Kingdom. Together, they helped open a community academy, celebrated the launch a youth award named after Prince William, and visited a country park, the AP reports. And while it rained, Middleton didn’t let the droplets interrupt her royal style. She wore a navy skirt suit by Amanda Wakeley for her appearance, a complement to her 18-carat sapphire engagement ring, and she pulled her hair back into a half updo, showing off delicate gold teardrop earrings. Celebrities have caught on to cobalt! Demi Moore wore the blue hue when she attended the Costume Designers Guild Awards in a strapless Vivienne Westwood gown last month, while Olivia Munn stepped out this weekend in an electric blue Marchesa dress belted with a matching sash. Abbie Cornish showed up to last week’s Sucker Punch premiere in a cobalt Amanda Wakeley frock, and Dita Von Teese stopped by Perez Hilton’s birthday bash on Saturday in a sequined Jenny Packham number.
