Marisa Tomei, First Lady Michelle ObamaClaire Danes, Scarlett Johansson, and Rose McGowan are gravitating to prints this spring—all from the same British label, Preen. Launched by English duo Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi in 2001, the brand became famous for its sophisticated, cool designs and patterns, as exemplified by the women wearing them above. “Our prints say, ‘I’m modern, I’m sexy, I’m cool,” Thornton told InStyle.com. “We design them to offer women something they may not have worn before, but with this a sense of romance.” Even if you are tentative about the graphic look, Thornton has advice: “Mix them up with solids such as a simple jacket or pencil skirt, and then accessorize with minimal items,” he said. “Don’t be afraid of bold prints they make you look both current and appealing. They say ‘I’m interesting and fun!’” Preen is available starting at $240 at net-a-porter.com.

Narciso Rodriguez Texts Claire Danes on the Red Carpet

May 2, 2012 @ 6:00 pm

When Narciso Rodriguez wants Claire Danes to know how amazing she looks in his designs, he texts her himself! Like last week, when the actress stopped by the Tribeca Film Festival in a sexy hot pink Rodriguez look. “I sent her a text saying, ‘Thank you for making me look so good,’” the designer told us at a benefit for his alma mater, Parsons the New School for Design. “And that’s on top of being a really great friend and a woman who’s so amazing, so beautiful and talented and courageous and intelligent. She really is all that. And I’m proud to call her my friend.” Now that’s a sweet relationship!

See our favorite looks from Narciso’s fall collection!

How stretchy do you like your jeans? Claire Danes won’t wear a pair unless they’re as soft as sweats! “It’s funny with jeans now, because if they don’t feel like a pair of sweatpants, I don’t have patience for them anymore!” the actress told ASOS Magazine. “I think I’m becoming increasingly lazy.” Tell us, have lycra-infused jeans, and their even stretchier cousins, jeggings, taken over your closet? Let us know in our poll below!  More
