Christina Perri’s “Something About December” Video: What She Wore

Nov 26, 2012 @ 5:04 pm

Christina Perrishe of the epic Twilight wedding song—is really in the holiday spirit! The singer just debuted her video for “Something About December,” the lead single off recently-released holiday EP, A Very Merry Perri Christmasand it brings to her sentimental song to life by mixing nostalgic home videos with her modern-day look. “I love everything about this video,” she told InStyle.com when we caught up with her to find out about the seasonal clothes she wore for the clip, including a red sweater dress by Parisian brand Irfe and a green dress from retro shop Stop Staring, both of which she paired with traditional pearls. “I wanted to wear something very classic and a little retro,” Perri added. “The song itself has a very ‘70s feel to it, and the location we chose was an old ‘70s style house, so the clothes had to really match. The two dresses were holiday in color, but very classic. The green one was my favorite!” (Shop the dress for $158 at stopstaringclothing.com.) And there was a very special lady who inspired her look: “I wanted to give a little nod to my mother, who this song is really about and dedicated to, so the pearls were for her,” Perri said. So sweet! Watch the full clip above. Perri’s album is available at amazon.com.

Christina Perri’s New Music Video “Distance”: The Fashion Details

Jul 2, 2012 @ 3:20 pm

While Christina Perri’s Twilight soundtrack hit A Thousand Years is still on the iTunes top downloads list, her latest single—and its new music video, which just came out this weekend—is poised for another top spot. “Distance,” a slow melody about falling in love (and sung with love song master Jason Mraz), features a stripped-down version of the 25-year-old musician, a style she chose to reflect the purity of the song. “There’s something about the simplicity of the lyrics, with the openness of my heart, I just didn’t want anything dramatic,” she told InStyle.com of her look, a relaxed little white dress and bare feet. “I wanted classy and simple.” Together with stylist Erik Rudy, the pair sorted through hundreds of designer dresses before settling on a cap-sleeve, scoop-neck style from H&M. “I wanted to look exactly the way I look right now in this video, in a dress I would wear at home or on stage, in my jewelry, with the minimal makeup I actually wear, and just being me,” she said. “This video is supposed to take you into my reality, not a dream, a real life experience of mine.” With lyrics like, “Please don’t stand so close to me, I’m having trouble breathing, I’m afraid of what you’ll see right now,” it reflects reality for anyone who has ever fallen in love. Watch the entire video above. Her album, Lovestrong, is available for $10 at christinaperri.com, and catch her live on tour with Jason Mraz this summer, kicking off August 9th in New Orleans.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 premieres November 18th, and there’s a new music video to get you even more excited to watch Bella Swan marry Edward Cullen on the big screen—“A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri. The tune is one of the leading songs on the movie’s soundtrack, and the just-released music video features new shots from the film interspersed with the singer wearing an elaborate black gown that mirrors the lavishness of Bella’s Carolina Herrera wedding dress. “This video really called for something grandiose,” Perri tells InStyle.com of her look. “The dress had to be as dramatic as the setting.” To get something just right, Perri worked with her stylist Alejandro Peraza, who custom-designed her outfit. “I felt like Cinderella,” Perri says. “It’s definitely the most over-the-top thing I’ve ever worn and I can’t imagine having worn anything else.” Peraza completed Perri’s look by dripping her in diamonds from Friedman Beverly Hillsthe white gold chain link bracelet she wore features 1,547 round brilliant-cut stones totaling 30 carats, a piece worth over $160,000.
