Last night was the first live episode of The Voice, and judge Christina Aguilera kicked things off with some major pops of color, beauty-wise. The inspiration? A popular animated ’80s TV series! “Using a candy pink lip added some fun to the sexy ‘Rainbow Brite’ look,” her makeup artist, Kristofer Buckle, told InStyle.com exclusively. “Christina had a lot of red in her hair, so I used a navy eye shadow to give her the drama she craves. It creates violet undertones, which worked well with the pink braids close to her face.” And speaking of Aguilera’s bright strands, we asked her hairstylist, Mark Townsend, what other colors to expect from the star this season. “We added strawberry highlights last night for the first live show, but Christina is an artist and likes to have fun with her hairstyles, so I can promise we will be switching it up a lot [during] the rest of the season!” Aguilera’s team will perform live on Wednesday, so she was able to relax last night and watch the performances from Team Blake and Team Adam. Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on the northeast earlier this week, and while cities have begun the recovery process there is still a long way to go. NBC Universal has decided to help by airing a one-hour telethon this Friday, November 2, at 8/7c to raise money for those affected. The special, Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together, will be hosted by Matt Lauer, feature performances by Christina Aguilera, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, and Sting as well as appearances by Jimmy Fallon and other big names. All money raised by the telethon will go to the American Red Cross. Tune in Friday to make a difference!

Christina Aguilera took a break from The Voice and promoting her new single, “Your Body,” on Wednesday to get political with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton at the George McGovern Leadership Award Ceremony. “Proud to use my voice for good & help,” Aguilera tweeted at the event, where the United Nations World Food Program Ambassador was recognized for her efforts in fighting global hunger. The U.N. and YUM! Brands Inc. together raised nearly $115 million for the U.N. World Food Program and other relief efforts since 2007.
