Instant Fashion Week Trend: Turtlenecks

“The only thing I need right now is a turtleneck,” singer Kelly Rowland told us after the BCBG Max Azria show, where every single look incorporated a turtleneck. And she won’t be the only one come fall, as designers at New York Fashion Week are showing off ways that turtlenecks can be worn with anything. BCBG Max Azria layered them under gowns and dresses (center); Rachel Comey played with prints under a pantsuit (left); and Christian Siriano showed a simple black look with a cocktail-ready skirt. Christian Siriano Launches Vintage-Inspired Holiday Jewelry

Is there anything Christian Siriano can’t do? First Project Runaway, then a namesake collection complete with New York runway shows, then a line of Payless shoes and now, a vintage inspired jewelry line! The Regal Estate collection, which launched yesterday on his accessories-only website SendtheTrend.com, was inspired by fashion references ranging from 19th century French royalty to ’70s icon Bianca Jagger. “I love vintage, regal looking estate jewelry and I wanted these pieces to have that antique, vintage look—like something you can’t find anywhere else,” the designer said in a press release. He also loves affordable fashion. Case and point? All items (including the 10-karat gold-plated amethyst hoops on the left) are $29.95! Happy shopping…

New York Fashion Week is off to an action-packed start at Lincoln Center. Yesterday, Vena Cava, Richard Chai LOVE, Christian Siriano and Richie Rich all put on incredible runway shows, and Chanel hosted a party at the re-opening of its Soho boutique. Designer Karl Lagerfeld welcomed guests like Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Rachel Bilson, Alexa Chung, Liv Tyler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Rachel Zoe, who were all clad in Chanel. When we asked InStyle fashion contributor Rachel Bilson about her first Chanel purchase, she told us she “bought a little Chanel bag—it was the first thing I bought when I started acting.
