Chris Benz’s Ultimate Tip for Fall Dressing

Oct 22, 2012 @ 2:27 pm

We’re getting right into the thick of fall dressing right now, and we’re asking designers their key tips for dressing for the season. Chris Benzs tip? Buy strategically.Every season for me is about shopping your closet and getting a few new key pieces,” the pink-haired designer, who is loved by First Lady Michelle Obama, Sophia Bush, and Eva Mendes, told InStyle.com at an intimate dinner celebrating eBay’s new Feed feature. And he suggests this season’s key pieces come with some shine. “For fall, it’s about dressing up and wearing a little bit of sparkle and shine throughout the day, like with jeans or with a shoe. I’m really into that counterpoint.” Thanks, Chris!

Inside eBay’s Intimate Dinner Celebrating the Launch of Feed

Oct 11, 2012 @ 12:01 pm

“I’m always on eBay!” said designer  Chris Benz, who joined the e-retailer’s Global Marketplaces President, Devin Wenig, for the an intimate dinner celebrating its latest innovation at the Highline Stages in New York City. “It’s where I find inspiration for my collections, my apartment, and everything. I can spend hours on it.” And now, eBay will come to him and its millions of other users thanks to a new feature called Feed (ebay.com/feed), an automated, personalized, and continuously updated aggregation that tailors eBay’s 350 million items to your wants and needs. (Think Pinterest, but shoppable.) “The future is about the ability to search and browse, so [Feed] is not just a utility; it can be fun [as well],” said Wenig, who welcomed the 50 designers, editors, and tastemakers to the evening by showing off his own Feed, packed with sporty Dri-Fit clothing and Jets memorabilia. Runway Beauty Looks We Love: Chris Benz

Sep 13, 2012 @ 6:59 pm

Inspired by the haunting beauty of Japanese horror films, the hair and makeup at Chris Benz’s New York Fashion Week presentation was all about rosy pink makeup and undone waves. “If you know Chris, he’s very quirky,” said lead hairstylist Nick Irwin. “He has a very different take on what is out there in fashion.“ Although the bright pink shadow looks extreme, a toned-down version makes for a fun accent for a night out. We went backstage to get the full beauty breakdown, including tips on how to translate this runway look for every day wear. Click through to see the steps, along with the exact products used!

Chris Benz on Dressing Barbie for Her 2012 Presidential Campaign

Apr 6, 2012 @ 10:30 am

Barbie is running for president for the fifth time, and she enlisted the help of designer pal Chris Benz to make sure she looks her best on the campaign trail. ”We had designed a dress for Michelle Obama in this print, and I thought what a great complement to that moment in time to do the same print for Barbie but in pink,” Benz told InStyle.com of the doll’s suit. ”We added red, white, and blue ribbon and made it fun and flirty.” Fun fact: Barbie’s magnetic pink wedges aren’t just stylish, they also enable her to stand up on her own, a first for the icon. “It is a great metaphor for a presidential campaign,” Benz said. With an outfit this cute, we have a feeling she’s going all the way to the Pink House! Pre-order “I Can Be President” Barbie for $14 at mattelshop.com.
