British Crooner Jessie Ware’s Fashion BFF: Parisian Designer Alexandre Vauthier

Apr 3, 2013 @ 2:30 pm

Parisian couture designer Alexandre Vauthier is known for dressing some of the biggest faces in music (Beyoncé has strutted across the stage in his dresses and Rihanna loves his work) and TV (Michelle Dockery is a fan as well as Heidi Klum). Now, he’s got a new rising singing star to add to his famous fan club: 28-year-old British R&B crooner Jessie Ware. A well-known name (and voice) amongst fans of electronic-infused soul, Ware has worn the designer on at least two occasions, and professed her love for him to InStyle.com in New York last night. “He did my Mercury Prize dress (far right), which represented my album Devotion [out April 16]. It was the best dress I think I’ve ever worn,” Ware told us at Paper magazine’s bash celebrating her as its most beautiful person of 2013, where Ware represented her new fashion bestie by wearing a cross-knuckle gold ring by the designer (left). “He’s a wonderful man, lovely man. I like to keep him close by wearing the ring, if I can’t wear the dress all the time.” So sweet! Keep an eye out—this is just the beginning of their budding fashion romance.

If You Want to Sweat Like Joe Manganiello, Turn Your Pandora Channel to This

Mar 25, 2013 @ 1:40 pm

Joe Manganiello is famous for his biceps, triceps, and all those other ‘ceps—he’s even writing a fitness book to share all his workout tips! And considering that bikini season is just around the corner, we pulled the True Blood star (in Hugo Boss) aside at Muhammad Ali’s Celebrity Fight Night Founder’s Club Dinner in Phoenix this weekend to ask: What’s on his workout playlist? “Metal! Lately, we’ve been doing a combination of either [Pandora's] Metallica channel or the Audio Slave channel,” Manganiello told InStyle.com. “Those give you all of that 90′s music—like Sound Garden, Alice in Chains stuff. It pumps you up.” Aren’t you pumped just thinking about it? Summer, here we come!

In Honor of Taylor Swift’s “22″ Video, Her 22 Best Dresses Ever

Mar 14, 2013 @ 12:30 pm

Taylor Swift just dropped her latest single, “22″—and ode to her best friends Emma Stone, Selena Gomez, and Dianna Agron—and here’s the video she filmed for it, complete with more of her closest gal pals from home! “It feels like a perfect night to dress up like hipsters and make fun of our exes,” Swift sings the opening line of her anthem (above) while popping on a pair of retro black frames, paired with plaid and colored denim, which she eventually swaps out for heart-shaped shades. A cute look for her to work while bouncing around a kitchen full of desserts with her closet lady friends! But while we love her casual style here, we also love the way she works a high-fashion red carpet look. That’s why we rounded up our 22 favorite Taylor dresses, just for “22.” Click through to see them all—and turn up the volume!

Take a Break: Watch Tilda Swinton Star in David Bowie’s Music Video

Mar 13, 2013 @ 3:05 pm

David Bowie’s first album in 10 years—and 27th to date—came out this week, The Next Day, and we’re celebrating by playing his new video for ”The Stars (Are Out Tonight).” The music and fashion icon cast fellow fashion superstar Tilda Swinton to star as his wife alongside him in the nearly six-minute short, where they play on both of their signature androgynous looks. (Fun fact: There is a Tumblr dedicated showing David and Tilda’s similarities named Tilda Stardust). Given Tilda’s “push-the-boundaries” red-carpet style, the moments of her in A-line dresses and ’80s white eyeliner in the housewife role are jarring, though it’s entertaining to see how similar they do appear in the moments where they are both stripped of costumes (fast forward to 4:17). Watch the video above to get the full effect, and scoop up Bowie’s new album, out now.

Plus, get style advice straight from Tilda Swinton. Aren’t you curious what she has to say?

Givenchy Designed Rihanna’s “Diamonds World Tour” Costumes: See the Sketches

Rihanna‘s “Diamonds World Tour” launched Friday in Buffalo, New York—and to shine bright, she looked to Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci to create her opening looks! Tisci, who counts Rooney Mara, Mila Kunis, and Liv Tyler among his fans, designed a floor-length ruffled silk crepe cape (left), embellished with 3D collar embroidery, for the singer. When she drops that topper, it reveals three pieces underneath (right), including a parka printed with a silver target and stars on its back. “Rihanna represents what young and amazing means today. She is punk and talented. She offers intelligence, energy, and pure beauty,” Tisci said in a statement. “She is the face of her generation.” And that face gets the most special customization: the golden bullets on the cuff of her hood have “RiRi” inscribed on them, and her complete second look is covered in dozens of black Swarvoski crystals. “Like diamonds in the sky,” indeed. Check to see if Rihanna’s coming to a city near you on ticketmaster.com.

Justin Timberlake’s “Suit & Tie” Music Video: Watch It Here!

Feb 14, 2013 @ 11:26 am

Happy Valentine’s Day, indeed! Today, on this day of love, Justin Timberlake released his Tom Ford-filled, David Fincher-directed video for “Suit & Tie,” the lead single off his March 19 album The 20/20 Experience. The black-and-white clip shows JT and his co-conspirator Jay-Z in a number of different sexy, well-suited scenarios: eating cereal together in a swanky abode, taking to the motown-era stage to perform, and, as expected, partaking in some of Timberlake’s signature choreography, which this time incorporates suit pocket squares in a very creative way. The video even includes footage of the two artists “in the studio” as they work on the track. Watch the clip above, and tell us what you think!

Watch Rihanna’s New Music Video: “Stay”

Feb 12, 2013 @ 10:40 am

For the most emotional song off her album Unapologetic, Rihanna has just released a video that is as visually vulnerable as the song’s message. In “Stay,” RiRi sings of not wanting a significant other to leave, even though it might be the best thing for both parties involved. “Not really sure how to feel about it: something in the way you move makes me feel like I can’t live without you,” she sings through strained breathing. On the heels of a few emotional performances of the song, the video shows RiRi in a bathtub, wearing minimal makeup and accompanied by Louisiana singer/songwriter Mikky Ekko, who also penned the track. ”I never abide by rules,” Rihanna had told InStyle. “I always break rules.” Watch the rulebreaker in her latest the clip, above.
