Watch Chanel’s India-Inspired Runway Show

Dec 7, 2011 @ 5:19 pm

Chanel‘s Karl Lagerfeld provided guests with a feast for the eyes and for the tastebuds during the luxe label’s Paris-Bombay Métiers d’Art show in the City of Light yesterday. Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais into an extravagant dinner party for the annual presentation, which pays tribute to the artisans and craftsmen behind the opulent designs. Models strode past the food-laden banquet tables in ensembles that blended classic Chanel touches like pearls and tweed with Indian-inspired textiles, embroidery and bejeweled accessories. “People have always responded to difficulty by dressing up in jewels,” Lagerfeld told The Telegraph when asked about his latest couture collection. “Fantasy is better than reality.” Watch the entire show above and click through the gallery to see Freida Pinto, Lady Gaga and more stars who love Chanel.

Runway Looks We Love: Chanel

Oct 5, 2011 @ 4:15 pm

Chanel went under the sea for spring 2012! Creative director Karl Lagerfeld transformed the runway into an underwater wonderland, as he showed off Chanel suits and dresses done in every shade of the ocean, from white to aqua to pearl. The oyster gem also appeared on buttons, belts, and trim, and interpreted for swimwear as sexy white looks topped with plastic cover-ups. Even the accessories had a marine feel, with coral-covered bags and bracelets, iridescent sparkling clutches, and effortlessly chic flat sandals. Florence Welch closed the show with a theme-appropriate performance—she emerged from a clam on the catwalk.
