Metallic Chrome Nail Polishes: Where to Find Them!

May 3, 2012 @ 5:11 pm

Chanel’s Peridot Nail Lacquer was an instant hit after launching last fall, and we can see why! The dynamic green is basically a mood ring in a bottle, and the teal and gold shimmer gives each nail a different look depending where the light hits. Now, other companies are following suit and releasing similar lacquers with a dynamic shimmer effect. The new metallic chrome colors range from subtle neutrals to high-impact purples. Try It Now: Red Nail Polish With a Blue Dress

Apr 3, 2012 @ 11:45 am

What’s a good nail polish color to go with a blue dress? Take a cue from Kristen Stewart’s Kid’s Choice Awards look and try bright red. “I wanted to play off of the blue in her dress with a bright lacquer,” her manicurist Ashlie Johnson said of the Twilight star’s color choice, Chanel’s Rouge Carat ($26 at chanel.com). When using bold colors like this, Johnson recommends sealing the free edge of the nail with a horizontal swipe of polish. “This helps the color stay on longer and gives off a more finished appearance,” she said.

Of course, like anything else Chanel, it’s an investment, ringing up at $250. Preview the some of the book’s hidden treasures hidden in the gallery, and shop it online at amazon.com or in bookstores now.

How Diane Kruger Customized Her Chanel Couture Dress

Feb 29, 2012 @ 10:55 am

Now this is a perk of being Diane KrugerChanel customized a couture look just for her! The actress wore a dress from the label’s fall 2011 couture collection to the Chanel and Charles Finch Pre-Oscar Dinner in Hollywood last weekend, a look that had been significantly updated from its debut on the Paris runway. “They took off the sleeves that it was shown with and they made it strapless,” Kruger told InStyle.com of the alterations, courtesy of Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld. For an extra touch of luxury, the label sewed thee 18-karat white gold and diamond star-shaped earrings from its fine jewelry collection to the top of the dress. As for how Kruger got such a great insider bonus? “This was just a dinner, so I would never ask them to make me a dress, but Karl is a good friend, so he’s made dresses just for me,” she said. How fabulously lucky.
