Deep V Dresses Have Stars Taking the Plunge

As summer transitions into fall, there’s one silhouette celebrities keep reaching for—the ultra-deep V. “I’m always trying to push the boundaries,” Jenna Dewan-Tatum told InStyle.com of her Naeem Khan look at the designer’s fashion show during New York Fashion Week. “Everyone always tries to hold me back, like, ‘Jen, be a little bit more closed.’ This is my nice happy medium.” Zoe Saldana (in Gucci), Nicole Richie (in Maria Lucia Hohan), Lea Michele (in Emilio Pucci), and Malin Akerman (in J. Mendel) seem to agree, all wearing their own interpretations of the exposed look in the past two weeks. “The deep V is a tricky look to pull off but it really plays to proportion and lengthens the body,” celebrity stylist Taylor Jacobson, who dresses Kate Beckinsale and Ashley Benson, told InStyle.com. Her tip: “Make sure to try on before you buy, and stick to delicate jewelry pieces to keep the look classy.” (You’ll notice each of the stars above are necklace-free, hint hint.) Dewan-Tatum also suggests walking out the door with some extra confidence. “You just have to work it,” she said. “Just own it. It doesn’t matter what your shape is. Everyone can wear a version of this and feel comfortable.” Inspired yet? Go for it!

How to Wear Color Like Kate Beckinsale

Kate Beckinsale has integrated bright colors into her red carpet choices recently, and it’s all thanks to stylist Taylor Jacobson pushing the star beyond her neutrals comfort zone. “She’s open to broadening her fashion horizons,” the celebrity stylist (and Rachel Zoe Project alum) told InStyle.com of dressing the Underworld: Awakening star this week. “She tends to do black white nude and edgy, but for last few events, she’s done soft, pretty, and more romantic and color. She’s so beautiful that anything that she wears looks amazing.” And you could learn something from Beckinsale’s slow transition into rainbow territory. “Embrace color because it’s going to be around forever,” advised Jacobson, shown inset. “Start with soft colors like rose, light blue, light green, or pale yellow. If you don’t want to do a full jumpsuit or dress, try accessories like a great scarf or chunky, bright bracelets. I love to accessorize with color—my favorite is wearing neon pumps with an all-black outfit.” Great advice!

Celebrity Get-Healthy Plans for 2011

Jan 3, 2011 @ 11:21 am

Beyonce, Jessica Szohr, Blake Lively and a host of other celebrities partied on New Year’s Eve at the opening of the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas hotel and casino. And just before the clock struck midnight, we turned to the stylish crowd to find out if they had any plans for getting healthy in 2011. “It’s going to sound crazy, but traveling less,” Kristin Davis (wearing Prada) told us. “I get to go great places, but you don’t take that good of care of yourself when you’re always on the road. So I’m going to try to be home a little more.” Meanwhile, Brandy—wearing a Lipsy dress, which was styled by Taylor Jacobson—said she’s “cleansing.” “I’m going to really get back into being a vegan,” she said. “I’m going to put forth every effort I have to do that.” See more celebrities at the bash, and their get-healthy plans in the gallery.

Taylor Jacobson Heads to Armani Exchange

Mar 16, 2010 @ 11:33 am

The Rachel Zoe Project won’t be the same without Taylor Jacobson, but it looks like she is doing just fine out in the working world.  The former stylist’s assistant has just been recruited as Armani Exchange’s first-ever visual consultant and fashion expert. Her first order of business?  Style the brand’s new concept store on L.A.’s Robertson Blvd. “I was inspired by the idea of ‘seasonless’ dressing. I wanted to embellish the key essentials we all have and build on them using chic separates, layering pieces and statement jewelry,” she told Fashionindie.com. Along with her new duties at Armani Exchange, Jacobson also blogs regularly as the face of beauty brand Everyday Minerals.
