Stacy Keibler, Olivia Palermo, and Iman Honored At the 17th Annual ACE Awards In New York City For Their Exceptional Use of AccessoriesNov 5, 2013 @ 4:53 pm
A few of fashion’s best dressed, along with innovative designers, stepped out to celebrate the 17th Annual Accessories Council Excellence (ACE) Awards at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City, an evening recognizing those who have significantly contributed and impacted the world of accessories. The long list of honorees included Stacy Kiebler (for Style Ambassador), Olivia Palermo (for Distinguished Style), Warby Parker (for Retail Innovation), Phillip Lim (for Designer of the Year), and the legendary Iman (for Hall of Fame). “You always get excited [about Hall of Fame] because I mean, wow that’s big,” she said to InStyle.com. “I always believed that accessories are the stars in my closet and the rest of my clothes are supporting guests.” Along with the honorees, A-list presenters were also part of the big night which included actress Joan Collins— who presented jewelry designer Alexis Bittar with Brand of the Year award—and designers Tommy Hilfiger, Rebecca Minkoff, Jason Wu and Naeem Khan. The evening not only celebrated the stars, but the renowned Accessories Council, a non-profit advocacy group supporting accessory designers, and adding to the stylish flair of the evening, singer/songwriter Guordan Banks serenaded guests with a special live performance.
In the spirit of the event dedicated to accessories, we asked the honorees if they follow Coco Chanel’s infamous rule of removing at least one accessory before leaving the house and the stars’ responses? “I do a little double check,”style icon Olivia Palermo said to InStyle.com. “Sometimes I add a little on or add a little off, it depends.” As for Iman, she admitted that not only does she follow the rule, but she even did it for the event! “I totally believe that, I wore bracelets, but I thought it was over kill,” she said.

Designer: Monique Lhuillier
Location: Lincoln Center
What it was like: Once the lights darkened, spring literally sprung from a sheer floral screen as models took to the runway in red, pink, orange and cream ensembles, walking down and then back around and past each other in Lhuillier’s creations. Skirts and trains flowed on the long walkway as pieces gracefully slid across the lit platform.
Why we love this collection: Monique Lhuillier said she was “going back to pretty” with this collection, and she certainly succeeded with her embroidered floral shift dresses, lace detailing and sequined pale gold pieces. Sheer chiffon ombre trains and billowing skirts on dresses were sweet twists but what really got us was the two-piece evening gowns. One’s silk gazar pink bandeau and orange ball skirt stood out as favorites of Lhuillier and front row goer Madekwe, too.

Designer: Helmut Lang
Location: Pace Gallery
What was it like: A gallery environment with an open center where models could walk freely without the restraint of a runway. The set was formed with plexi and white light columns.
Why I love this collection: The collection was an exercise in modern minimalism. Each look captured a cool and slouchy aesthetic, in large part due to crisp, sharp lines. In particular, the sheer silk organza looked beautiful, especially with minimalist tailoring. New to the brand was a line of handbags that debuted on the runway, which ranged from bonded and perforated leathers to textural skins.

Rebecca Minkoff’s New Denim Line Offers a Good Cause Twist (Stacy Keibler and Zosia Mamet Are Already Fans)Jun 26, 2013 @ 3:40 pm
Rebecca Minkoff just launched RM Denim & Tees, a new extension of her designs, and she made them just as everyday cool as one of her signature bags. Her celebrity pals, including Stacy Keibler, Girls star Zosia Mamet, and Katrina Bowden, helped her kick off the new denim launch with an intimate rooftop dinner at the Mondrian Soho in New York City, where they checked out the offering of jeans, shorts, and slouchy worn-in shirts. Each piece in the collection is named after a street in Manhattan and there’s a twist—for every piece sold, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Share our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Initiative, which can help give a child in need up to 20 meals. Inside the Party: InStyle Celebrates Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s New Handbag Line for Elizabeth and JamesJun 20, 2013 @ 3:15 pm
“Good music, champagne, good drinks, and always a balcony,” Ashley Olsen said as she swept into the Chateau Marmont’s Room 64 two-bedroom penthouse in Los Angeles to join her sister Mary-Kate celebrate the launch of their new handbag collection for Elizabeth and James. InStyle’s editor Ariel Foxman hosted the fete for the pair, and pals of the designers and the magazine stopped by to check out the new backpacks, clutches, and carryalls, including Aimee Teegarden. “I’m in love with the blue messenger bag, it looks amazing with your everyday stuff,” she told InStyle.com. After she heard someone had their eye on it, she got protective of her new find: “Someone else is watching it? I might have to fight them for it! I’m up for the challenge.” Stacy Keibler, Brittany Snow, Ashley Madekwe, Kiernan Shipka all stopped by and tried out the pop-up photo booth, as well as Glee’s Naya Rivera, who posted her candids to Instagram. Specialty cocktails kept the conversation buzzing with their perfectly-named titles, a lemon-infused “The Elizabeth” and a ginger beer-based “The James.” As the sun went down, the balcony was the spot to be—just as Ashley Olsen predicted—as guests grabbed seats on the gray couches and high-back chairs to take in views of Sunset Boulevard and the famous bungalow pools.
