While the gorgeous beauty looks at New York Fashion Week had us eager for the start of spring, Rihanna is bringing us right back into the current season with her fall lineup for MAC! This makeup collection is her biggest yet, and we’re obsessed with the deep lipsticks, inky black liner, and luminous highlighters, all perfect for recreating RiRi’s signature look. Also included: Two versatile eye shadow quads, ultra-pigmented lip and brow pencils, fluttery faux lashes, and more, housed in chic rose gold packaging that bears the star’s autograph. Today, the Oxford Dictionaries Online added the term “twerk,” along with “selfie,” “badassery” and more than 60 other slang words, to its online dictionary, Time reports. Why now? Time says they have become a symbol of culture as it is today, and we also believe we have Hollywood to thank for their relevance. Rihanna regularly defines what badassery looks like, while Beyonce and Selena Gomez have perfected the art of the selfie. And need we remind you of Miley Cyrus bringing “twerk” into the spotlight with her recent MTV Video Music Awards performance with Robin Thicke? We may be most excited about “selfie” officially entering the English lexicon, because we think the trend has way more staying power than “twerking” ever will. (Sorry, Miley!) With that said, check out our tips for taking the perfect selfie below.
Like Rihanna and Beyonce, we’ve all fallen prey to the selfie phenomenon, but before you click and (more importantly) send, follow this expert advice on how to look your best. Chris Schoenbohm, co-founder of the app Viewfinder, advises shooting at eye level or above for portraits. Dr. Jeffrey Spiegel, a facial plastic surgeon recommends “smiling with your eyes” — or “smize” as Tyra Banks once put it. “A fake smile is just your mouth. A true smile is when your whole face is laughing,” says Spiegel. “Think about sending energy to your eyes or smiling with your eyes, and your beauty will shine into the photograph.” And if your hair often looks flat in photos, never fear, your styling skills aren’t to blame. Photographer Patrick McMullan adds, “The camera tends to shrink hair in photos.” To compensate, dig your fingers into your crown to scrunch hair, or flip your whole head upside down right before the shot. This classic model trick makes hair look thicker and less static (goodbye, helmet head). And of course—no duck lips!

#ChangeItUp! Rihanna, Shay Mitchell, and Ashley Benson Reveal New ‘Dos on Instagram, And You Can, TooJul 18, 2013 @ 1:08 pm
Gone are the days of debuting your new haircut at a party or event — now, celebrities like Rihanna, Shay Mitchell, and Ashley Benson have taken to Instagram to make the big reveal. Yesterday, RiRi posted a picture of her new “ice grey” hue to her account. The Pretty Little Liars also kept their salons busy this week, with Mitchell’s new ombre highlights, and Benson’s touched-up strands. An Instagram selfie is a great way to break news to your friends about your updated look, but we know the trials of getting a good angle or having your arm dominate the shot all too well. An easy alternative? The CamMe iPhone app! Simply position your phone on a sturdy surface, open the app, then stand back and strike a pose. You can signal that you’re ready to go by raising your palm to the camera, which will prompt the app to start a three-second countdown before snapping a picture. Once you’ve picked the perfect image, post it to Instagram and watch your new ‘do become a trending topic.

Between her collaboration with MAC and her trio of fragrances, Rihanna has made quite an impact in the beauty world — and she’s not done yet. In September, the singer will add a fourth perfume to her growing fragrance family, Rogue. While all of her scents evoke a seductive feel, Rogue is especially intimate. “People are always changing and evolving, and with Rogue, I wanted to switch it up to reflect who I am today,” she told WWD. “I made it for all women, for every mood, because we all want to project our true selves.” Like her previous scents, Rogue will incorporate warm vanilla, patchouli, and amber elements, but will have a sexy twist with lemon blossom, jasmine, and rose notes. Find the scent at department stores nationwide starting in September for $69.
