To try the look yourself, Francis recommends prepping hair with a volumizer (he loves Phyto Volume Actif, $35; sephora.com) to build up thickness, then adding a spritz of texturizer to keep the braid from slipping. Amp up the style and add lift by loosening the front twist with a tail comb before securing with hair pins. “This creates a slightly more dressy version to the headband braid because of the height,” Francis added. Elizabeth Banks defied the don’t-match-your-lipstick-to-your-dress rule at the New York City premiere of What to Expect When You’re Expecting—and we loved it! “This is a case where matching a lip to a dress actually works because it ties the whole look together,” her makeup artist Gita Bass told InStyle.com exclusively.
