2013 CFDA Awards: Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang Nominated, Vera Wang to Be Honored

The Council of Fashion Designers of America announced the nominees and honorees for the 2013 CFDA Awards yesterday—and, as always, some of the industry’s most influential designers stepped out for the occasion! Last year’s Womenswear Designers of the Year, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, were in attendance at the announcement—hosted by CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg and Swarvoski representative Nadja Swarvoski at the CFDA Offices in New York—as was Vera Wang, who will be honored with this year’s Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. Plus, Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, and Proenza Schouler‘s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez found out that they are all up for this year’s Womenswear Designer of the Year Award! Every season, InStyle Fashion Director Cindy Weber Cleary picks out her favorite Fashion Week looks, and for the fall 2013 shows, she loved Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen‘s new lineup for The Row. “So, The Row is very understated, I know, but I love this coat and skinny pant, especially the white cuff under the trouser,” says Weber Cleary. “It doesn’t really come across as well in a photo as in real life, but these clothes are almost perfect. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s line Elizabeth and James will now offer handbags! The design duo created bags for their pricier luxury brand The Row, and now they’re set to launch an expansive collection for Elizabeth and James. Ranging in price from $125 to $625 dollars, the collection will include satchels, messenger bags, backpacks, as well as small leather goods made of luxe materials such as New Zealand lamb skin and soft Italian haircrow (as seen on the black drawstring back to the right). Get ready to shop the collection when it hits stores this July.

eBay and BeachMint Team Up for Weeklong Star-Studded Sale

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are launching their first scent! The duo’s label, Elizabeth and James, will be teaming up with Sephora to create a signature fragrance, set to hit shelves this March. There is no word yet on the aroma, but we’d love to see a combination of floral notes with a hint of spice. Perhaps, a homage to their contrasting personalities?
