Having a Moment: Oblivion Star Olga Kurylenko on the Red Carpet

To Oblivion, and beyond! That’s where Olga Kurylenko and her co-star Tom Cruise have been promoting their action-packed sci-fi flick, which hits theaters nationwide April 19. And for the movie’s global red carpet tour, the 33-year-old Ukrainian born actress has proven herself a darling of the fashion world, with some of the biggest labels dressing her every appearance. In Moscow, she picked a lilac Elie Saab Haute Couture floral embroidered dress; in Dublin, she went sleek with an emerald column by Roland Mouret; in London, she donned a black lace-trim Marchesa; and in Los Angeles, she picked a plunging embroidered satin Burberry design. And her love of fashion is newly-acquired: “I now understand this thing about taking care of yourself before leaving the house, no matter where you go,” she told InStyle last spring. Even when she travels, too: “I was getting ready to leave [on a flight], and my boyfriend asked me, ‘Why don’t you put on sneakers?’ And I said, ‘No way!’ I had on high-heeled boots. Heels were something that just didn’t exist for me before. But now I feel like I’m a woman.”

Revenge Fashion: Why Costume Designer Jill Ohanneson Loved Emily’s Coral Elie Saab Dress

Mar 25, 2013 @ 5:48 pm

On Revenge last night, Emily (Emily VanCamp) found another person to add to her hit list, Nolan’s (Gabriel Mann) tech nemesis, “The Falcon,” and she did it while wearing a coral Elie Saab dress that made everyone—including costume designer Jill Ohanneson—swoon. “I just loved the color on her. It was unusual for her; she tends to stick to the blues and the beiges. But the moment she put it on, we knew it was the perfect choice for her,” Ohanneson told InStyle.com. “I also really love it for when she meets Daniel (Josh Bowman) and she’s being sympathetic. The color is so warm and the square neckline is so open, it was too perfect emotionally.” Check next week for Ohanneson’s inside scoop on the upcoming episode’s masquerade looks!

Elie Saab’s Fall Collection: 14 Pieces Perfect for Taylor Swift

Mar 6, 2013 @ 5:29 pm

Though Taylor Swift did not attend Elie Saab‘s runway show, her presence could definitely be felt. As the crisp pantsuits, lacy gowns, and floaty party dresses came down the runway, we couldn’t help but imagine the country singer in the designs for her future red carpet appearances. While the sheer panels and belted designs were reminiscent of silhouettes that have become the singer’s signatures, colorful fur stoles (in turquoise and mustard) and powerful, structured skirt suits would represent a sophisticated departure for the stylish star.
