“Rule #1 is that you gotta have fun” is the first lyric in “How to Be a Heartbreaker” by Marina and the Diamonds, and it’s a phrase that also easily applies to every single minute of the FOX show Glee. It makes perfect sense then that this will be one of the tunes featured on this week’s all-new episode “Feud,” sung by head honcho Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) and her new boy toy Brody Weston (Dean Geyer). The woman behind the song, Marina and the Diamonds (real name: Marina Lambrini Diamandis) is also excited to see the playful “don’t-fall-in-love-too-soon” lyrics come alive in a Glee-ful way. “I’m thrilled,” the 27-year-old Brit told InStyle.com when we caught up with her at her New York record company, Atlantic Records (seen above right). “It’s rad for me as an artist. That has never happened in my life.” And not only will she gain a handful of Gleek fans, the exposure also provides a nice entry into the tongue-in-cheek, lovely land of Marina. “I want people to get into the humor of the record,” she said. “They’ll see that I’m playing with the idea of a pop singer, as opposed to being so in the pop world.” Catch the song in its Glee form Thursday, March 14 at 9/8c on FOX, and then visit marinaandthediamonds.com to see when Marina’s Lonely Heart’s Club Tour is coming to play a town near you.
