The Tribeca Film Festival kicked off this week in New York City! The festival, which was founded by Jane Rosenthal, Robert De Niro and Craig Hatkoff in 2002, celebrates the vibrant filmmaking world in New York City, which is why stars are gravitating to southern Manhattan to enjoy the 11 days worth of festivities. Film festival judge Eva Longoria and Mr. Mayhem Dean Winters lunched at the Tribeca Grill Loft for the Juror Welcome event, Zac Posen celebrated the 24-karat gold couture gown he made for Magnum Ice Cream’s short film As Good as Gold with Andrea Riseborough, and Olivia Wilde (in A.L.C.) and Karolina Kurkova (in Blumarine) attended the For the Love of Cinema Filmmaker’s dinner hosted by Swiss watch company IWC Schaffhausen at Donna Karan’s Urban Zen store. Princess Charlene of Monaco left Europe for a whirlwind week in New York, where she attended Versace’s Soho boutique opening celebration dinner and the Princess Grace Foundation Crown luncheon hosted by Don Perignon. And there was one person who stuck by her side more than her husband, Prince Albert II of Monaco—Czech model Karolina Kurkova. Oh, how we wish we could have girl talk with these new besties!

What’s better than turning 100? Turning 111! Bergdorf Goodman celebrated its birthday last night with a mega-bash at The Plaza, located across from its famous Fifth Avenue and 58th Street flagship. The New York design world came out for the retailer’s “111 Years of Extraordinary”-themed party, with designers and their muses covering every inch of the ballroom in the most extraordinary garb. The standouts included Coco Rocha in a Zac Posen bordeaux satin gown, rising style star Rita Ora in an old Hollywood-inspired white look by Emilio Pucci’s Peter Dundas, and Karolina Kurkova, who wore a Roberto Cavalli suit done in one of the label’s signature exotic prints. Other designer attendees included Thakoon Panichgul, Carolina Herrera, and Michael Kors. And, as if there weren’t enough showstoppers with the fashion alone, classical singer Sasha Lazard stopped by the party to perform “Happy Birthday” while a giant three-tiered cake—flaming with fireworks—was rolled on to the dance floor. Way to throw one “extraordinary” celebration, Berdgorf! Click through the gallery below for more photos from this week’s hottest parties.
Valentino took over the New York City Ballet last night! The legendary Italian designer lent his decades of couture expertise to the NYCB’s annual fall gala, where he created costumes for all of the principal dancers in four of the five vignette performances, each of which contained a hint of classic Valentino red, from the peekaboo lace to the pointe shoes. (Scroll down to see the photo of him on stage to take a bow.) “You always know when someone has skill, but to see it at work like this, to see the discipline of creating, not just a dress but a costume, my admiration for him has grown ever more so,” said Sarah Jessica Parker (in Valentino Haute Couture), who conceptualized the idea of having the designer collaboration as co-chair of the gala. The entire evening was filled with admiration for the 80-year-old always-tan man, as his celebrity fans like Anne Hathaway, Karolina Kurkova (in Valentino red!), Iman, and more filed in to congratulate him on a job well done (while all wearing Valentino). “They were breathtaking and out of this world and totally him,” Hathaway said of the costumes. The event kicked off the fall season of the New York City Ballet, and raised money for the artistic organization. Bravo! *Throw a rose!* *Throw a rose!*
