The Met Gala 2013 Fashion: First Look at the Punk-Inspired Red Carpet

Tonight is the 2013 Met Gala—officially known as the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala and unofficially known as The Oscars Red Carpet of Fashion. With this year’s theme being Punk: Chaos to Couture, we’re guaranteed to see some over-the-top style choices… and they’re rolling down the red carpet right now. Nicole Richie (in Topshop Unique) debuted punk rock-inspired dyed hair, Taylor Swift (in J. Mendel) showed off her edgier side, and Kim Kardashian and Kanye West (both in Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci) had a shining moment on the carpet. And that’s not all. Kim Kardashian’s Maternity Style Includes Wearing Shoes Designed by Kanye West (Aww…)

Kim Kardashian’s maternity style has turned heads and started conversations, as the reality star has not shied away from curve-hugging silhouettes and sky-high stilettos throughout her pregnancy. And her shopping jaunt in New York’s Tribeca neighborhood yesterday was no different: She strode across the downtown sidewalk in a black Stella McCartney dress and matching Valentino cardigan. However, it’s the footwear that’s our favorite part of this outfit because the sandals are a little ode to her boyfriend and father of her unborn baby Kanye West. The wing-covered heels are part of the collection Giuseppe Zanotti designed in honor of West’s Cruel Summer album last year—the white pair she’s wearing are from last season, but this spring they’re available in a black and gold version, shown here. When Nicola Formichetti first revealed in February that he was styling Kim Kardashian, we were immediately curious how he would dress the pregnant reality star’s famous curves. And we soon received our answer: Never sacrificing her love of fashion, Kardashian has continued to wear the figure-hugging dresses and sky-high heels she loves so well—a head-turning combination for the petite star with a baby on board. That’s why we had to ask the man behind her latest looks—(left to right) a modest black-and-white shift, a leather dress by her sweetheart Kanye West, and two very different Lanvin creations—what he thought of his client’s memorable maternity style. “Kim symbolizes the modern-day girl. She likes very sexy things,” Formichetti told InStyle.com at the February launch of Mugler’s handbag collaboration with Shopbop. “She has a different body structure, [and with her pregnancy], it’s a challenge.” But he added, “She’s not a model, and that excites me!” Tell us: What do you think of Kim’s sexy maternity looks?

Estelle’s Favorite American Boy? Elijah Wood!

Grammy-winning British songstress Estelle earned fame and accolades back in 2008 with her catchy hit song, “American Boy,” which featured a verse from Kanye West. So when we saw her last night at Russell Simmons’s Diamond Empowerment Fund GOOD Awards in New York, we had to know: Who’s her favorite American boy now? “Oh, that’s so hard to choose! There’s a few of them,” the singer (in a Manish Arora dress) told InStyle.com. “You know what, I was watching Lord of the Rings the other day, and I always like Elijah Wood’s eyes. It’s a whole thing. So Elijah Wood would be number one.” Any runners-up? “Ryan Gosling would be two,” she said (no worries that he’s Canadian). “He’s amazing. And then Jaime Foxx. The older he gets the better he gets!” That’s quite the eclectic mix!

Kim Kardashian Shows Off Baby Bump Style in Julien Macdonald

Parents-to-be Kim Kardashian and Kanye West rang in the new year at 1 OAK nightclub at the Mirage Resort and Casino in Las Vegas last night, their first official appearance together since the 35-year-old rapper announced during a concert that the couple is expecting. Just hours before their midnight kiss, the 32-year-old reality star addressed her baby-on-board status on her site in a post titled “New Year, New Beginings,” writing: “It’s true!! Kanye and I are expecting a baby. We feel so blessed and lucky and wish that in addition to both of our families, his mom and my dad could be here to celebrate this special time with us. Looking forward to great new beginnings in 2013 and to starting a family. Happy New Year!!!” And she’s not sacrificing any of her signature sexiness with her maternity style so far—she wore a sheer netted dress by Welsh designer Julien Macdonald to host last night’s bash. What a way to kick off 2013!

Kim Kardashian Is Pregnant With Kanye West’s Baby

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are having a baby! The 35-year-old rapper announced the news of his 32-year-old girlfriend’s pregnancy during his concert at Revel Nightclub in Atlantic City last night, asking the house to shut off the music to give a shout out to his “baby mama” in the audience. Immediately, the Kardashian social media-loving family reacted. Mom Kris Jenner Tweeted “Oh BABY BABY BABY”; sister Kourtney wrote: “Been wanting to shout from the rooftops with joy and now I can! Another angel to welcome to our family. Overwhelmed with excitement!”; and younger sister Khloe said, “Keeping secrets is hard with so many family members! Especially when you are so freaking excited!!!!! LOVE is everything!!!!” The couple has been together since April. Her divorce from Brooklyn Nets basketball player Kris Humphries is still pending. Kanye West’s Leather Givenchy Kilt: Love It or Leave It?

Kanye West surprised many at last night’s 12-12-12 Concert benefitting The Robin Hood Foundation’s Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund when he took the stage in a leather kilt (shown above, right). But the edgy Scottish-inspired look is nothing new for Yeezy! He’s worn the Givenchy skirt on a number of occasions, starting with his and Jay-Z’s tour last year to support their Watch The Throne album (above, left and center). And while some fans reacted to his kilt on Twitter and Facebook, the only one who really mattered loved it. “Awwwwwwww I’m so excited right now!!!!! He looks so cute!!” girlfriend Kim Kardashian Tweeted during the show.
