Jessica Simpson is returning to the TV spotlight! Eight years after she starred in the hit MTV reality TV show Newlyweds with then husband Nick Lachey—and following her weekly appearance as a judge on NBC’s Fashion Star—Simpson announced that she will play herself in an upcoming NBC sitcom based upon her life. “I am so excited to work with NBC on a scripted comedy,” Simpson said in a statement. “I often find myself thinking that no one could ever make up the things that actually happen in my life—so between the real life elements and a great team of writers, I think we’ll have people laughing!” Let’s hope there will be plenty of “chicken of the sea” moments! Baby #2 is on the way for Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson! The 32-year-old singer and fashion designer let her 7-month-old daughter Maxwell Drew deliver the good news by posting a photo on Twitter of the infant next to the words “Big Sis” written in the sand. “Merry Christmas from my family to yours!” Simpson wrote. What a way to make a happy holiday that much happier! Congrats to the growing family.

After revealing back in July that supermodel Elle Macpherson would not return to host Season 2 of NBC’s reality design show Fashion Star, the network has announced Louise Roe as The Body’s replacement. The British television host is best known as the face of BBC’s The Clothes Show as well as for her appearances on E!’s Fashion Police and MTV’s The City. Macpherson will stay on as executive producer and told Deadline she is excited to welcome Louise to the cast: “I’m really excited by our choice of Louise as host for the second season,” she said. “I think her presence will energize and surprise.” Louise will guide budding designers and their mentors—Jessica Simpson, John Varvatos, and Nicole Richie—as they compete for the chance to sell their clothes to buyers from mega-retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue and Macy’s. It should be an exciting season!

Jessica Simpson is getting some help stocking baby Maxwell’s closet thanks to sister Ashlee’s creative hand-me-down skills. “I have some really cute vintage shirts that we remake for [Maxwell] to be cute little dresses,” Ashlee told InStyle.com at the New York launch of the Samsung Galaxy SIII phone. “We have some good ones from when Bronx was really little that are good material. That’s what I love for Bronx, but he can never wear them again, so I make cute little shirts with them.” So is she trying to give Jessica’s girly girl a taste of her and Bronx’s (shown) rocker chic? “Exactly,” Ashlee added. “But she’s really too small for that.” So cute!
