The stars played peekaboo at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards last night! Celebrities including Jennifer Lopez, Emmy Rossum, and Taylor Swift all chose to wear designs that incorporated sheer elements (and all by the same designer, Zuhair Murad). Lopez’s gold skirt was see-through, Rossum’s side panels were covered in polka dots only, and Swift’s royal blue mini featured a crackle pattern that showed off her shoulders. But no one tried to do sheer quite like Once Upon a Time star Jennifer Morrison, who walked the carpet in a completely transparent gown (save for her skivvies) by Kristian Aadnevik. Video of the Day: “Live It Up” by Jennifer Lopez

May 20, 2013 @ 10:15 am

Monday, again?! Kick your week off with a new jam by Jennifer Lopez. The star just released the music video for her new single “Live It Up”—coinciding with her performance of the tune at the Billboard Music Awards last night—and it’s pure J.Lo. All her classic elements are there: Belly-baring outfits (including her swing look by Wes Gordon), baller shades (by Swarovski), wild makeup choices (orange lipstick, anyone?), and dance moves at the going rate of 125 BPM. Her explanation: “I’m a dancer, so dance and choreography have always been a way to express myself,” she once told InStyle. “Anything you do with music or a song, or even playing a character, is a way of expressing yourself. Dance just happens to be a very sensual way of doing it.” Watch the video above to see Lopez’s latest heart-thumping song. Because it’s Monday and you should LIVE IT UP.

When it comes to shapewear, Beyonce, Emma Watson, and Jennifer Lopez all turn to one brand to guarantee their red carpet outfits look smooth: dMondaine, a line designed by Kiana Anvaripour. These ladies love the brand’s bralettes, panties, and bodysuits because they’re made to gently hug your curves and still leave enough wiggle room to feel like you haven’t cut off your circulation. “They’re sexy,” explained Watson’s stylist, Anita Patrickson, who also dresses Julianne Hough and Bond girl Berenice Marlohe. “They cover all problem areas and add an extra layer of confidence when they’re on the red carpet.” Plus, the brand just launched its new spring collection, which includes a pink-striped bra (above) preferred by Beyonce—a fun twist on the traditional monotone shaper—as well as the signature Marilyn (nude) and Victoria (black) pieces. Check out more of dMondaine’s six-piece core collection, available on net-a-porter.com for $79 to $169.

This Week’s Parties: Jennifer Lopez Had a Great Fight Night!

Mar 25, 2013 @ 3:45 pm

Muhammad Ali’s annual Celebrity Fight Night attracted plenty of stars to the J.W. Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix to raise funds and awareness for Parkinson’s disease research—the weekend raised $7.2 million!—including Jennifer Lopez (in Maria Lucia Hohan) and Reba McEntire (in Cluny). Before taking the stage to perform five songs, Lopez accepted the gala’s Humanitarian Award on behalf of the Lopez Family Foundation, a charity she founded with her sister to increase the quality of healthcare for women and children around the world. “This award is a wonderful acknowledgment of the work we’ve delivered and that we want to deliver,” Lopez said while accepting the award. “Ever since I was young, [Muhammad] Ali has always been this massive presence; he is a larger-than-life person who inspired the world and showed us that anyone can achieve their dreams.” Click through the gallery to see more of the weekend’s star-filled parties!

Donatella Versace Reveals the Most Forgiving Material EVER

Mar 1, 2013 @ 1:30 pm

Donatella Versace has dressed almost every A-lister, including Angelina Jolie at the 2012 Golden Globes (shown), and she’s learned more than a thing or two about style along the way. ”I have never met a woman, no matter how beautiful, who isn’t insecure about her body, so my designs are body conscious in ways that complement female curves,” she says in InStyle‘s March issue. “What matters first is to use fabrics and proportions that make a woman feel secure and noticed. I love lightweight wool crepe, shiny jersey, and satin, all of which let you cut clothes close to the body without clinging. Jersey is so forgiving—and it’s the easiest material to wear.” And that’s not her only fashion lesson! Flip to page 239 of InStyle‘s March issue for more, or download the issue for your tablet so you can read it anywhere.

Jennifer Lopez wowed at this year’s Grammys in one of the night’s sexiest dresses—a billowing satin number complete with a thigh-high slit—a piece by Belgian designer Anthony Vaccarello. While the name may sound new to many, he’s quickly becoming a go-to for the music world, with both Lopez and Cassie choosing his skin-baring, super sexy designs (which are also available on luisaviaroma.com). Just yesterday, Vaccarello debuted his latest collection for fall during Paris Fashion Week (seen right), boasting another lineup of LBDs and racy gowns sure to raise the sultry level of any red carpet. Be on the lookout—we expect to him dress lots more celebrities soon.

Grammys 2013 Red Carpet: The Celebrities Who Didn’t Tone It Down

Feb 10, 2013 @ 8:12 pm
Grammys Dress Code MemoGetty Images (4)

In anticipation of tonight’s Grammys red carpet—which is known for its outrageous fashion choicesThe Recording Academy issued a decree on Wednesday asking that attendees make attempts to tone down the often revealing nature of their red carpet choices. But there were a few stars who didn’t pay any mind to the new rules: Jennifer Lopez (in Anthony Vaccarello), Katy Perry, Miranda Lambert (in Roberto Cavalli), and Kelly Rowland (in Georges Chakra Couture) all showed plenty of skin on the red carpet. “They didn’t say anything about leg!” Lopez told E! host Ryan Seacrest. “I thought I was being such a good girl. A little shoulder, a little leg!” Lambert also consciously disregarded the Academy’s notes. “Don’t show your side boob and don’t show your puffy skin, what does that even mean?” she said. “What is puffy skin? Nope I didn’t get the memo!” So, what do you think of the skin-baring looks? Tell us your thoughts in the comments!
