If you weren’t already eagerly awaiting Baz Luhrmann’s film adaptation of The Great Gatsby, the utterly decadent costumes designed by Miuccia Prada and Catherine Martin will completely lure you in. Prada, who first collaborated with Luhrmann on Romeo + Juliet, selected garments from prior collections that already had 1920s elements and re-styled them for each of the two balls that take place in the movie. The gorgeous result is a bespoke collection displayed not only in the movie (in theaters May 10) but also the new exhibition, Catherine Martin and Miuccia Prada Dress Gatsby at the Prada Epicenter in Soho. It marks the first time ever that Prada and Miu Miu garments are housed under the same roof, and we were there to see the exquisite sequin, crystal, and pearl-encrusted costumes up close at the New York opening, along with Prada-clad guests Florence Welch, Katy Perry, the film’s stars Carey Mulligan and Isla Fisher, and the collaborators Catherine Martin and Miuccia Prada. In the novel, F. Scott Fitzgerald transformed parties into characters themselves, and Prada was able to do the same with the exhibit. Mirroring the lavishness of the costumes, the downtown space is decorated with custom Gatsby wallpaper, screens with behind-the-scenes montages, and cases of ornate accessories. “I wish I could have been in the movie just to wear that costume,” we heard one guest whisper to another. We’ve never wanted to be Daisy Buchanan more.
The exhibit will be on display at the Soho Epicenter through May 12 and then travels to Prada’s Tokyo Epicenter store and the IFC Mall in Shanghai. Click to see more photos.
Happy 37th Birthday, Isla Fisher! After a delay in the release of Baz Luhrman’s film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel The Great Gatsby—which was originally supposed to come out this month and will now hit theaters May 10 of next year—there are a few more teasers out! The second trailer has just been released (watch it above), featuring stars Leonardo DiCaprio (as Jay Gatsby), Carey Mulligan (as Daisy Buchanan), Tobey Maguire (as Nick Carraway), and Isla Fisher (as Myrtle Wilson) in all their glittering, Luhrman-stylized glory. The director who brought us Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge appears to be sticking to his trademark visual style, relying upon slow-motion captures and lots of gold hues to tell the ostentatious tale of the upper echelons of New York society in the roaring 1920s. Maguire also took to his Twitter (for the first time since June!) to release six new posters for the film, each of which features an iconic line from the novel. Watch the trailer above and click through the gallery below to see all the posters! More
Bachelorette comes out tonight! The film stars Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher, and Lizzy Caplan as three girls who are asked to be bridesmaids for a girl (Rebel Wilson) they used to ridicule in high school. InStyle.com caught up with all the ladies at the film’s L.A. premiere last week, and they had a lot to say about how their wardrobes (created by costume designer Anna Bingemann) helped them create their characters. “To see that each girl can be fashionable but also have her own quirky style, and when you saw all three of them on screen it would feel complete,” the film’s writer-director Leslye Headland told us. “The character’s costume is their armor. It’s what they protect themselves with, especially dealing with female characters that are all about their image.” Click through the gallery below to hear all four girls talk about their characters’ styles and see the film in a theater near you starting tonight!

Bachelorette stars Kirsten Dunst (in “Look of the Day” Jean Paul Gaultier) and Isla Fisher (in Reem Acra) stayed close to each other at the premiere of their new comedy at the Arclight in Hollywood last night.“Because we’re at the Arclight, and I come here a lot, I didn’t want a ball gown. I just wanted to wear a pretty summer dress,” Dunst told us. Mission accomplished! Click through to see more of the week’s best parties. And catch Bachelorette in theaters September 7th.

Master of Ceremonies Hugh Jackman welcomed fellow Aussies Naomi Watts and Isla Fisher to the fourth annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic on New York City’s Governors Island. Taking a brief break from her summer vacation to attend the event (which raised funds for The Urban Zen Foundation’s Hope, Help & Rebuild Haiti initiative) Watts discussed her love of the sport of kings. “I don’t know much about the finer points,” the actress admitted. “But I did date a polo player a long time ago.” Click through the gallery to see Jennifer Aniston, Kate Middleton, Kristen Stewart and more stars at the weekend’s hottest parties!
